Has anyone out there got a lifted 80 series cruiser. I was wondering what shocks you are running and your static shock length is. I've slapped some taller springs in my toy and taken some measurements got 600mm from mount to mount in the rear and 625mm length on the front. Problem is allthe places ive rung around all the shocks max length measure about 625mm in the rear apart from efs extremes which measure 690mm extended. I'e got a bumpstop to spring seat distance of165mm and im just about to go out and measure my compressed shock length.
Just want to know what people with tall lifts are running and whether they just moved their shock mounts I want to aviod this if I can.

So scooter hasn't talked you into a rally car yet? I'm looking for one, so the old hippo may be gone very shortly
playing in the mud has to be more fun than trying to wrap your self round a tree but i guess tyres are cheaper. had a quick look on outerlimits some cool machines on there. You have trouble registering on there they say my email address has been banned i've never been on there before.
Had a look at a us site could get some bilstein shocks for $100usd and they did upto 18inch stroke length for that price online special. I dont think you could part with the hippo youll get sick of getting the rally car stuck in a slightly sticky water table.
Let me know lengths that you want, and I'll have a look around for ya. What lift did you go for?
I disconnected my rear shocks, and jacked the truck up until the coils were just captive, then measured. Then I'm assuming if the will bottom out on compression, you just extend your bumpstops?
Will get out and measure them with the shocks disconnected just went for a quick drive out the ashley to run the dogs its 200m from my house
static length rear 600mm compressed 410mm with about 25mm to go to the bumpstops couldnt compress the front far enough. front static length measures 625mm
you'll have to check it out on the way home after the rugby

As for height of lift this is where it gets interesting. I bought some foxvert springs off trademe (must be some bs japanese springs) that were 55mm taller than standard and it pushed the truck up over 100mm all around and left me with awful castor angle so i sent them into chamberlains and got them lowered 2in in the rear and 2.5 in in the front. with the truck being so much lighter than a standard 80series it screws standard lift heights all out of wack. Talked to a guy at Kaiapoi alignment and tyres and he reckoned off my measurements its 100mm taller than a standard 80
no trouble really only running two wires with two switches. One is a three position with on-off-on and the other a microswitch type .Just reverses the polarity to the actuator. push the three way switch forward and press the microswitch, hold for two to three seconds and locker engages pull the three way back and push microswitch again to disengage. pays to waterproof the wire connections down near the diff though.
I'm running EFS Extremes on my 80, they're the best shocks, they really control the weight. I've used standard shocks (a bit soft), Rancho 5000s (softer), Monroe gas (a bit better) and EFS Extremes (excellent). They do give a different kind of ride on road because of the difference between bump and rebound rates, but go a bit faster and they're great. PM me if you want any specific measurements.

Awesome I take it,its a factory VX locker, Ive just fitted a couple to a rig im building up just wanted to see if there was any issues with engaging and wiring circuitry obviously the water is an issue so I will nail that. I have installed all factory wiring and fittings I will do all the usual breather extentions but i do have planned to fit a 6 inch suspension lift thats been gathering dust in the shed.

Yes it is. I used some silicone roofing sealant i had lying round to keep the water out heaps of it hope i don't have to take it apart for a while
What brand of shocks do you have for the lift and what is their length?

Weight isn't an issue with my truck, theres none to control. but length of the shock is do efs extremes have an extended length of approx 750mm?

690 front and 695 rear, mainly designed for extended off road touring, but are also used for competition. Be too hard if you don't have enough weight.
