'91 Landcrusier Prado, location of breather hoses

Post by Highway »

I'm working on extending my breather hoses into the engine bay this week and while the diff breathers were easy enough to locate, I can't find any for the transmission (A343F auto) or transfer box. Maybe there aren't any, but...

So directions from anyone familar with these would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

If you slide your hand up over the top/rear of the T/F case, in about 150mm there is a breather.
only about 30mm of gap between the case and the floor. so its a bit of a mission to fit a tube to it. You need to remove the sprung loaded valve cover first.
Unless you intend going in real deep water, is not worth the hassel.

The trans one should be at the back of the engine bay against the firewall.

worth the hassle to do them is a pain, I did the diff ones but left the transfer and gear box, after a long swim in the river the oil was more of a hassle than the breathers. on the manual you can get to the gear box breather through a panel by the gear leaver.
