yokohama, bridgestone, dunlop and cooper - decisions!

Post by sparx »

howdy :)

It's tyre changing time again for the hilux, I have narrowed the field down to four tyres at similar prices - now all I need is the wisdom within the offroadexpress forums to tell me which is the best buy!

I am currently running yokohama geolander AT 265/70r15s (they're crap offroad)

Local suppliers have Bridgestone Dueler 689s or 684s at $250 each
Cooper AT/Rs at $230 each
Dunlop Wrangler AT/Rs at $210 each

or if anyone knows someone selling decent all terrains for around the same price please let me know

cheers!

I reject your reality and substitute my own.

Most AT's will be crap offroad, mine suck too.

Next time I think I may go for a set of MT's off road, the MT's at the moment seem to wear just as well as the AT's just have a little less surface area on the road.

How many ppl have 2 sets a DD set and a Offroad set?

I used to have some cooper stt's in the old style tread pattern and found them good on the road, both handling and wear, but I thought they had hopeless traction off road :?

its all a compromise, more agressive will be better off road and not as good for on road driving and visa versa.

What about the atx23? i think they would be better than the rmts, seem like a really good a/t tyre.

the b/stone 689 is a road tyre. the b/stone 694 is a good A/T tyre.
the Goodyear Wrangler AT/R is soft and from my experience with my customers they pick up punctures easy in the bush.
The Cooper AT/R is a similar tread to the Goodyear but American made and therefore stronger, and from what I've seen and heard they last ages.

There is one other tyre you could look at, if it fits....
BF Goodrich M/T in a 325/60 R15. They are about 31" tall but 12.5" wide.

SKID

p.s. the price you have for the coopers is bloody cheap. I'd seriously look at them for that price.
80 Series on 35" creepies, manual with twin factory lockers.
