Steve/Wgtnnewbie,
Who did you end up riding with today, or did you really play in the mud without a truck. I presume you were able to get a ride home today as well. Thanks for the company on Saturday - are you any the wiser as to which sort of truck you want to get for yourself.

Well I had a ball. A well organised and well run trip. Bloody great fun! One of the best ones I have been on in a long time.

Tu had me worried with some of the places he was putting the POLICA car in :oops:

They don't go in (or out) of places like that when i drive it. Just remember to put more gas in it next time :lol:

Also thanks to Mark and Hail's for dragging that damned trailer out for me. I was low on gas and even lower on brakes :oops:

There are some "O for Awesome" photo's of some Awesome mud holes and even Awesomer people which made a Awesomist trip.

And well done to those who always seem to bring the shit that the rest of us can't be bothered to bring, cookers, butter etc etc, it's the little things sometimes

That was so cool. Not only the 4wding but also the camping out at the woolshed and sitting around the bonfire talking crap and rehydrating at the end of the day.

I was amazed when I turned up at the start point in Makara and found that we had 18 trucks! What an awesome turnout and it was great to see so many new faces. I'm a shocker when it comes to names so I hope I didn't offend anyone by not knowing your name :oops:

. I really wasn't prepared for the huge turnout and so many new faces to remember... :wink:

I think Saturday ran really well considering the number of trucks and the nature of the bogs and really slippery conditions. Even the guys on AT's did really well... it looked like they were on ice a few times, but they drove very well considering. I'm glad we had the new tyres on the whale or we would have struggled a lot more.

I got a few photos and videos on my phone. I can't seem to connect to it to get the photos today, but I got the videos last night. They are here. They aren't too big as they are just off my phone - somwhere between 1 and 4 MB.

Thanks to everyone who came on the trip. It was a really enjoyable one with absolutely no dramas at all, just good old fashioned fun!

I can only second what has been said so far.
Had a ball of time. Pretty knackered though on Sunday. I was in bed by 7.30pm.
Got a few pics and some vids. Will probably upload them a little later tonight.
First I have got to get the wet carpets out of the wagon while there is still a bit of daylight left.
I am keen on a Rallywoods trip in a couple of weeks. Should be really slippery in there.

am keen for a rallywoods trip. there was a severe lack of vehicle damage over weekend that needs to be rectified!!!!!!!!!!!! cloggy was the only 1 trying!

4-5 Aug or 18-19 Aug are available on the rallywoods calendar, the weekend betweens already booked for the Sunday

Jerry you could change the title of the Aotea thread to Rallywoods if either of these dates suit everyone

Didn't do too badly.
Both front indicators lenses broken, rear tail light lens broken, bent the tierod (yet again), soaked the interior, and few extra dents.
Really need to start looking at some bar work front and rear to protect the body a bit I think. Otherwise the old girl will end up being a tray back sooner rather than later.

ive taken my carpets out, drowned them too many times.

i put a nice big scratch down 3 pannels on the drivers side from sliding into a bloody tree :cry:

My steering wheel is now about 20 degrees to the left when the wheels are in a straight line but otherwise escaped the weekend damage free. Can't tell exactly whats wrong with the steering yet (the engine bay is still plastered with mud)

I was down your way in April at Terawhiti. I went thru a watery bit and the water came in the passengers door. Now when its a cold winters day, the freaken windows fog up and no amount of heater/demister will clear them. I blame the Terawhiti water thats probably still in my carpets. :lol:

Nah I didn't see any for sale signs on it but the engine was missing :shock:

I was doing my engine conversion at the time and stuck my nose under every bonnet I could find to try and learn how to do the swap :wink:
