I'm buggered if I know how you'd fit a V8 in there, as it looks like a tight squeeze with the V6. Theres about an inch between the pulleys and the fan on the back of the radiator.
lexus V8s fit in there all day everyday, and they're are alot wider than a chev

It's not that tight. There's more room than you'd think. I'll pin up some more photos this week and show you what I mean if you like?
The guys that worked on the steering box today, "Doug Smith Power Steering Systems" did a mint job. They replaced the make shift piping with a custom fiitted steel high pressure line and a new fitted low pressure line. No leaks and looks a million bucks. The pipes that were used (that they threw away) weren't made for the job.
There were no complaints of not enough working space on the job.
good to here that your problems are getting sorted shame to hear that you have to pay twice for a job that could have been done the first time at a little extra cost with a little more communication or just listening to exactly what the customer wants Zuess Zuki thats why I wanted to here from someone who knows and what betta from the horses mouth no rumours here though but to start a discussion you have to put something out there believe me the rumour out is actualy werse than what has been posted watch your back people arent happy with work from 4wd acc aswell due to poor communication and workmanship every shop is in the same boat A also can mike fix the time?

Communication is the key alright. To assume is, how does the saying go? "to assume is the mother of all fxxkups". I've learnt from the experience. i should of asked more questions before the work was done. Then I might of known what the end result was going to be like. And as far as good workmanship, I assumed there to.
Sorry if this seems picky, but could you take a bit more time to write your posts with the correct grammar? Its hard to read when there are no fullstops, or capitals etc.

Cheers buddy
I'm not being picky but. Would you mind quoting? That way we know who you are talking to. It could be me as my grammar is awful.
Regards,
Pete.

True. But the comparison in performance is massive. (so is the cost )
He's a pic showing just how much room there is. It ain't that tight. Even if you think it is? Most FJ40 owners know the front section is hinged. It folds down once you remove the radiator. Oh and there's at least an inch between the radiator and the fan. HEAPS of space.

Fair enough Pete. But to be fair, I addressed the post to knowall, and it was directly underneath the said post. I didn't think a quote was needed, when it was blindingly obvious who and what I was referring to.
Those pics look great too by the way. Bet it goes like a cut cat.

Sorry. I quote just avoid any confusion. But I know people who hate me quoting.
Thanks re the pix. Yeah it goes ok. But it will just about pull wheel stands once it's been on the dyno a couple more times. Kevin Geary tells me, because we've taken out the Airflow meter (used to optimize fuel usage in cruise control) it takes a fair bit of extra tuning. The Airmeter stepped the air diameter down to 86mm and reduced the flow, so now it's 101mm all the way through.
Don't get your back up. I was trying to give a friendly and gentle request as I found it hard to read.
I know how long it took to fix the electrical problem, as I waited an extra few days to get it fixed. But at least it was fixed, at no cost to myself, and a loan car was provided.
I am not on Petes' or anyone elses side. I am/was merely pointing out that different people will/have different experiences with the various 4WD companies around town. Pete has had issues, and I'm sorry to hear that, as I know how frustrating it can be.
Oh, and your grammar is much better, cheers

MAN! I've so enjoyed inputting to this thread. I've laughed, I've sniffed, a lot. Another saying is fitting here,
"What goes around, comes around". I'm a firm believer in "karma". Thank god for it!!! (sorry, Mike Tool) :salut:
Ok, I've had a couple. Mike tall, personally, is a good guy. Straight up.

I did say you would be on Petes side if it had happened to you not that you are or not!
Pete sounds Like you are not really being heard, your real complaint sounds like the after bill payed service is not there, (thanks for the money dont come back unless you want to pay more for the job to be done right)
People out there should realy ask and clarify what the business is realy capable of and good at or not good at so they can save money and get it done by someone who speacialises in that feild not a jack of altrades master of none which sounds like everyone out there as Pete will tell you three other speacialised people have had to correct his problems not just electrics. But plumbing power steering, power steer box rebuild. Engine managment due to insufficent air flow etc this is not just a small problem but many small expensive ones I believe 16K would be an expensive job but worth every penny if the job was A1 Obviuosly Pete thought so as he paid the bill but to his dismay things started to rear there ugly heads and with further investigation discovered an inadaquite job. He did get intouch with Mike only to be fobbed off by the sounds of things or to have them do another bodge job to try to keep Pete Happy.
How long did it take to do your repower Pete and did you get a loan car?

knowall - sounds like quite the ride . You did not mention suspension set up - what did you decide to go with? My '92 soft top Vitara has 10" of lift, 3 link rear running top "A" arm and 2 trailing links. Front is a 3 link with panhard bar. Was running 37" Wranglers but going under the knife some time later on for some fine tuning ( maybe 40's ). 98" wheelbase. Flexed -1100mm under the front tyre with all them still on the ground. Oh yeah, coils all round too. It went extremely well up to I decided to start the rebuild ( these projects never seem to be finished ). Only running the stock 1600 16V but geared to crawl. Probably going to ditch the body work this time around for better flex.I was considering getting it certed ( built it for cert ), but I am concentrating on my V6 for now - crawlers on the back burner, to much wheeling going on to get things moving right now. Plenty of time though as I am a young man .
I can assure you that my workmanship was top notch. Communication etc , you are getting warm but I am not going into any detail. Rick and I parted on good terms and thats how I am keeping it

they can't be that bad. they are a distributor and installer for a major brand out of OZ. I would think that if they weren't so flash then that major brand would cease to use them as thier agent.
I love this comment Skid.
Have you ever heard of Munroes in Ch-ch. Another distributor and installer of a major Aussie brand. Also wouldn't touch them with yours.
What and interesting subject to come back to after a week of 4wheeling on the coast I've had work done at all of them, been in to all of them for advice and after sales service. I only go back to one know as I know he is honest, genuinly interested in your truck and what you do with it, and what you want to do. I have seen his workmanship tested in the field in extreme conditions and come out the other end with flying colors, the drivers may have scared themselves shitless of course. I don't need to name the shop as you all know where I shop and where I all recommend you to shop. You get what you pay for and some lessons in life are just learnt the hard way.

Hello again.
Some developments have happened since I've posted to this thread. It was just a matter of time before Mike Tall got wind of it. I don't expect him and his partner to be very happy with me at this point in time.
Mike. I'm sure you will read this message.
I have brought someones name and company into this thread and I've tried my best to remove it (at his request). I should of told him before posting. On the whole he is happy to deal with you. I'm sorry if I have damaged that in any way. I honestly mean that. But as others have quoted me (and rightfully so) i can't remove it totally.
What I won't remove is all the things i have pointed out to others, re your company. My whole point in adding it to this thread was to warn others, hoping they wouldn't go through what I have.
You had my truck for long enough to do a good job. I paid you good money. And to other professional people in the electrical trade (as I had to get advice on fixing the electrical problems) they told me (and will stand by advice given) that the job you gave back to me was not done to a safe standard. i could of lost my truck in a electrical fire.
I to had some work done by a 4wd place mentioned on this thread a few weeks later every bolt became loose on drive shaft then when on a 4wd drive trip my brake caliper bolts came loose, lost one. the other one stripped the thread. so thought i better have a good look under the truck and also found bell housing bolts finger tight. learnt my lesson would never go back there.
