coil or leaf springs?
coil or leaf springs?
hey can some one please tell me whats better for 4wding, coil sprung suk samauri or a leaf sprung 413?? thanks
Modified leaf springs ?
Just to make it interesting...How about 'parabolic' leaf-springs instead of the standard leaf-pack.???
Nothing is Fool-proof, as fools are incredibly ingenious !

About a year ago there was a zuk on leaf springs with drop shackles in one of the Aus 4WD mags called "kermit" and it kicked arse!!
think about it before you bin the leaf springs how hard is it to tune a coil spring

how about a bit of lift easy for the leaf just make a set of extended shackles, costs F-all, Hmmm coils

Yea go the coils

Philip all I was doing was pionting out, was that the leaf sprung 413 is an option

Things to consider...
Are you going to modify or are you happy with a standard
Your (or your mates

Cost both the money you get for selling one and the cost of future upgrades...
The way I see it...
If your not too engineering savy and cost isn't too big an issue go the Samuri the coils will give the better performance
But

Hope this helps

Cheers Reece
Ps the other option is keep both

If your really keen I've got a Lexus motor sitting doing nothing

Just a word to the wise if your going to go down this path, unless you''ve done this sort of thing before or are lucky enough to know someone who has and they'll help!
Plan on it taking along time

I have/had a 413 and the motor in that was reliable , never missed a beat ( smoked rather badly in the end ). I was overseas for a couple of years and I would come home once a year and jump in it and it would start straight up and go , then get left again for another year etc .
Alas I decided to change the motor , this lead to a complete rebuild . Coils and toy diffs etc . Would I do it again , not for anything bar a winch challenge truck maybe .
If you need a new motor get a 1.6 vitara , then play with the leaves . You will get more travel out of a leaf setup for the same dollars compaired to a coil . If you want coils for the comfort , well go the samurai .
