hi all

Post by ELEV8 »

My name is Luke. I own a 1985 Hilux Surf. Its body is pretty standard at the moment but it has been fitted with a 1uzfe v8 running a link ecu as usual. it has a 10L baffled and strengthened sump and has been rebuilt, but apart from that its pretty much standard too. the truck has got new shocks and leafs, brain isnt working. may have to update it later. ooh and the best mod of all a chrome skull gear knob. unfortunatly it only has road tires fitted so when i get some money that will be 1st on my list. then i can hopefully get into some offroading with anyone who is interested.

cheers.

Whats to learn, you point your 4x4 towards the hill, bog, river, rocks, Police Check Point etc and press the loud pedal to the floor. Close your eyes and hope like fck. Reopen your eyes when the sounds of breaking branches, exploding rocks, screaming people or Police helicopters fades into the background

I'll try to remember to pm you the day before.
As for the power steer pump, Is it leaking as they are known to develope leaks?
I think you can get a rebuild kit but dont know what there worth, remind me if you come to the meeting and we can check with jono if he has any spares.

haha thats what i was hoping, i cant see my panels and paint lasting long but i supose they are for the weak anyway?

cheers LOLYF yea they seem to be the weakest link ay. yea its leaking but only slightly, but its not just that which is the problem, its the bearings i think, they are making this really loud noise, and the pully seems a little bit wobbly. the steering still works fine for now, it just sounds horrible and hides the awesome exhaust note. but yea, i think ur right about the seals, that would obviously be the cause for the bearing failure or whatever it is. yea i may look into those rebuild kits ay, im a student so im on a tight budget to say the least haha.

hey DSTRBD yea i thought you may have known the truck, i cant remember how but mike said he knows of you. iv met the guy who did the wiring, hes a good guy ay. cheers for the info mate, if any of those motors are in good or better nick than mine id be happy to buy one of you. wouldnt mind getting some supercharger advice as well, you seem to be in the know with 1uz's.

cheers, luke.
