my mates rugger needs help!!!

Post by PigFmr »

my mate has a rugger 2.8 diesel turbo, manual
well is running like a dog at the moment
wonder if guys could help,
lack of power wont do anymore than 100km foot hard to the floor, and just seems dull has got a slight miss when reving it at stand still about 3000 revs timing maybe??, done fuel filter made no diffrence but was dirty and air filter replaced, think turbo is ok took hose off and its sucking in air and fins are turning ok,but you cant here the turbo working like no whistle at all or maybe they dont whistle on these, was thinking injectors next.
in the dark with a rugger so any help would be good

thanks vince

Sounds like you have a boost leak or injector problems, for the boost leak look at every join in the pipework from the turbo to the intake manifold one may be loose or half off.

As for the injectors I am not sure how to check these but a miss can only happen if there is no or very little fuel going into the cylinder. As to testing this I have no idea. Anyone else?

Check the top of the injector pump, there is a turbo vacuum thingy, spray a bit of crc around it

I found that the top of the injector pump got mud in it and stopped the turbo working, can post the manual on CD if you don't have high speed internet.

another problem is the carpet in the floor moves forward and gets clogged in the pedals, check this as well.

Check out this site as well

their gearing is not as good as a cruiser/prado so doesn't put the power down as well, but in saying that they aren't bad...

sounds like dirt on the turbo thingy, give the top of the fuel pump (ie where the accellerator cable hooks up a good spray with crc and try it
