Handheld PRS with vehicle aerial?
Handheld PRS with vehicle aerial?
Will a 5W handheld PRS connected at a vehicle mounted aerial work as well as a truck mounted set, or do the truck sets have special internals to use the vehicle aerial?

I got an adapter from an electrical specialist store to screw in place of the standard aerial. Photos here

Looking at it now, the aerial end seems pretty small...

get the Aeirial and the terminating plug on the coax just screws onto this, I run a 5w in vehicle one and use a crappy .5w one when out of the truck, it should work, Dick smith sell a compete aerial kit for $40 or so and when you get a in vehicle one its still compatible

I think it does from memory, but we don't use AM CB down here, The one in the Rugger had an external speaker $35 from dick smith (listed as CB speaker) has a standard mount at the back, and they do a CB aerial kit for $40.
PRS is called CB in Aus
The Prado had it installed, had a thick plastic aerial installed but that broke quickly, go for the better all metal bendy one.

yeah, the problem I've got is that alot of the older guys in our club run CBs and then all the younger ones and lots of other 4wders from around the country use PRS. it would be nice if I could get one that easily does both.
