Hey Pete & others (Including the "Mike's") Don't feel bad about making a few bad posts. We have all done that!!
This forum has mainly up sides, much sharing and caring and passing on some good advise, Keep it comming!!!
Putting aside some emotion and biased comments on this one if you sit back and take in what has been said here there is some real good stuff like we now know to take care in selecting a repair person, or what ever to work on our trucks. and we need to be clear in our requirements, as to what we want done or fixed, and understand clearly what we are paying for and feeding back to the company who did the work afterwards both the good and bad side of the outcome.
What amazes me is how up tight people get when tappin away on the key board!
If we made those comments face to face we would probably laugh it off!!! but on this forum people take so much personally. Why???
All I can say is Hey guys grow up and move on, Shit happens! :o

Cheers and keep on wheelin! :D :D :D

Thanks Needswork.
I agree with you.
I've tried to keep my cool while tapping on the keyboard. I feel bad that I brought someone else name and company into this. I've tried removing it the best I can. I just hope I haven't damaged the relationship between him and Mike tall. I'll stress again. Personally, I like Mike Tall. I'll leave it at that.
We live and learn. I know i do, big time, in lots of ways.

I final note to add to this thread.

Everyone who's read this thread knows of the positives and negitives to the shop mentioned.
What i think would be only fair is. Is to let Mike Tall respond and answer some of the things brought to this forum. I'm surprized he hasn't already tried. I only want things on a level playing field (so to speak).
If you are reading these posts Mike T. It would be good to hear your side.

What do others think?
Please be as diplomatic as you can in your responce ORE people.

Regards,
Peter Turner.

Good idea Pete.

I had a chat with Mike Tall today, and I suggested that he should put his side to everyone. He said that he has tried to register, so he could post a response, and Mike (owner of ORE) has blocked or rejected his attempts to do so. Is that the case Mike? and if so, why can't he have his say also?

Cheers

That will be why then. Fair enough, we don't need any more of that crap in here that found it's way in the other week.

I havnt done any such thing, Anyone can register on this site including spammers, but once the spammers post I delete their accounts. All he has to do is choose a username, enter his email address, click on the activation link in the email sent to him. If he has joined in the past then it will not let him use the same email address, which i suspect is probably the issue here.

Hi all,

I don't see that this topic is going anywhere, and don't think that this forum is the place to air the dirty washing. If there is a complaint that can't be resolved there is a correct procedure and place to do it, and a public forum is not it.

We are a very small and close 4wd community in Canterbury and when this sort of name calling starts it is effecting someone we know on one side and sometimes both sides.

Sort it out between you,

AND LET'S GET DIRTY,

FITZY.

I hear where you're coming from. And yep, it may not be going anywhere. I to have had a gut full of this thread, but as it's been more one sided than both sides, I only wanted it fair.. Period. There is a better place to do this but I did try all my other options before posting here. Believe me.
Enough said.

Fitzy.
At the risk of sounding like a complete prick. Someone has ask me to post this message to this thread in support of them.
I feel obliged to do so as we all know this person and love the work he does.
As much as I hate to add to the thread there is a purpose. So please bare with me ORE people.
Fitzy. You say, "and don't think that this forum is the place to air the dirty washing". I am on your side. But when it comes to protecting others I think it has to be done, that's just my view.. This next line of text is very dirty, and frankly, I was surprised to receive it.

Today i got a txt from Mike Tall's partner, Lorna. And I quote, "Cant answer u via web site just want to let you know corey wired yr truck up not mike. Thanks Lorna".
Of course I forward this to Corey. He couldn't believe it and he's asked me to put this up on this site.
So I have.

Regards,
Pete.

hear say nothn more , how old are we really , like comparing holdens to fords , toyota to nissan , one 4WD shop to another , its not hard to start rumour's and they can end up to be quite damaging , people can loose more than their life savings , etc .

If anyone has certain problems with a Company , etc , work it out with them or go to a small claims court or even see a solicitor , as the song from The Clash goes ' Know your right's !.

my opinion

It's my opinion, and it's called freedom of speech! So you can take what you will from it.
Flame me for helping others why don't you. I had nothing to gain from this but warning others. I could afford to fix the problems mate, others couldn't.

Everyone has a story. I got my safari back from a place in westport after getting a new clutch put in the day before i was leading a ORE trip, only to go underneath and find the rear drive shaft nuts were only located on their threads buy one or two turns, not even finger tight, and the heater hoses where leaking coolent all over the place.

You learn that this stuff happens although it shouldn't, so you give everything a quick check over if you can when you get it back.

I just got the safari back from the panel beaters on saturday to find they had forgotten to hook the tail lights up....................

Other things i have found have been a pinch bar in the engine bay, the air cleaner clamp to the manifold loose, loose wheel nuts, loose radiator hoses, leakin injector lines and a few more im sure.

Kinda just learn to expect it

I know what your saying about learning to expect jobs not fully finished.

I found a 12 volt flouro tube inside the panel work of my 80 series last time I was pushing panels out. Also found heaps of dents under the fibreglass flare that a panel beater had just stuck back on rather than fixing the damage under it.

Unfortunately, not all of us are in a position to look thoroughly over work just completed. Most wouldn't know what to look for in the first place. Thats when little slip ups become dangerous.

I friend of mine almost lost his 80 series to fire because the workshop left a rag on top of the turbo manifold. Luckily he had a fire extinguisher with him.

Its just one of those things I suppose.

Cheers

I consider myself to be a good tradesman, but i'm not perfect and have been known to %uck up a few jobs. I guess its a percentage thing. What i'm saying is that we could talk about this subject for the next few weeks, but to what end? Every workshop in NZ will be full of mechanics/workers that have done a job that didn't turn out 100%. Yeah its a bastard that the wiring wasn't right but i'm sure it wasn't an intentional situation. When you take on a major upgrade/rebuild then you'd be being naive if you thought there weren't going to be teething troubles. How about we start a more positive thread about all the good jobs or upgrades that have been done. But i think we should end this one with a video of the mighty Chev powered 40 doing burnouts (just to show us all how well it works now that everythings all sorted 8)

Well put.
I think there's another thread re the access to the waimak. That'll be interesting.

And re the burnouts? I'm keen as! Just waiting on a mod to the rear diff to stop the axle twisting under load. That's how I snapped the last pinion and broke two teeth off the crown wheel.
When it's done I'll throw it up on youtube. Me user name is pete401
