toyota v6 weird idle

Post by Petemcc »

My surf has a 3vze engine and is idleing really weird. some times its normal about 1000rpm but pritty randomly it will be at 2000 rpm.

It seems to do it when its warm and does it more when i give it abit of shit. its got me stumped. recking it might be something to do with the vaccume hoses but buggered if i know what.

Cheers Pete

I would have thought that 1000 would be a bit high, most factory idles are around 650 or so.

If you use something like carb cleaner and spray it over all the vacuum connections when the idle speeds up you have found a leak.

Doesn't sound like a vacuum leak to me though, 2000rpm would be a massive air bleed and usually the vacuum ports are after the MAF so if you had a leak it would idle badly rather than increase.

Good luck.

Matt.

yea was idling all weird a while ago and i fiddled round with it so 1000 is abit high just havnt got round to adjusting it back because it hasnt been running well. anyway it changes from normal to about 1000 more than normal.

id has heaps of vaccume hoses cos of the emissions stuff not sure how it works, the erg valve was backed off by the previous owner and was running sweet for afew years since that.

Disconect the battery for 5-10 mins, some times the ecu gets a bit balls up and cutting the power supply can allow it to reset it's self
