What Brand Of Tools Do You Use ?

if i cant buy it with a Bosch logo on it... i'll go without..
as far as other gear goes.. my bosch supplier also sells me my powerbuilt gear at cost.. yes their warranty returns arent that flash.. but its cheap.

I have a few bits of Stahlwille amongst dozens of other brands in my tool box, and I'd love some more but haven't managed to find a dealer here.

Since many peeps here have mentioned Stahlwille I'm guessing there's a local dealer - anyone wanna' tell me who?

All my decent tools are from the UK .. Draper and Fuller .. Although over here the quality of fuller pro is lower than the standard fuller sets in the UK.

I bought a socket set from Repco when I first got here and destroyed the ratchet on first use! I've tried to avoid buying tools over here, but this thread will help me alot ;-)

Now I'm looking at buying a tool chest and cabinet for the new garage (Birthday presents from the Mrs) Just got to find a good setup for less than $1000.

I use Snap-on,Koken,Aigo,Facom anything decent...
I bought a powerbuilt brakeline spanner one weekend to do a job in a hurry, fawking thing opened up quicker than a pair of hookers legs and rooted the flare nut in about 2 secs, never buy that shite again, waited till Monday, bought a snap-on (for $50 :shock:

), but it works perfectly, worth every cent
Just bought a set of 1/4 drive tube sockets, King Tony brand, they seem to be ok so far. Usual story with tools, as with most things, ya get what ya pay for

If she had the option she'd buy Top grade Snap On as thats what shes used to.

She's ex boyfriend races Superbikes in the UK and she was his pit crew... she suggested a snap on tool chest and cabinet... then we looked at prices...

Wish my partner would play with MY tools. (I mean that in a clean way) That way i could spend more time in the garage.

i had powerbuilt but some b##ger stole them so now i only got bits and pieces from repco and supercheap. I've had a $10 supercheap angle grinder for 3 years now and it has built 3 trucks so far and is still going good.

Bosch and Makita for power tools

Spanners are T & E (american) sockets are Fuller Pro had both theses sets for over 10yrs includng my time as an apprentice boat builder where they got a hammering. Have put a 3 foot cheat bar on the power bar and a 2 foot one on the ratchet no worries. Ratchet is getting a bit loose now.

Old story the more ya pay the better ya get (generaly not the rule)

Some one mentioned about blackwoods not selling powerbuilt, I used to work there when it was Paykels and there was as much sid chrome stuff being returned as anything else, for expensive stuff i would go for koken, cheaper powerbult, fuller etc.

however owning a landrover a pair of 'visegrip' visgrips and a 'cresent' cresent seem to do the trick most of the time !!

just got my self a Fuller socket set as the cheaper stuff and i mean cheap $20 set i had broke when using it on engine and stuff so spent $180 on a Fuller set Its Only A 43 PCS they were on special from $250, was going to buy powerbuilt but been told these are way better then powerbuilt, and Fuller has lifetime warranty

i'v got a Fuller socket reducer from a long long time ago that broke a few weeks ago and when we went to buy a new socket set i told the guy about how it broke and being Fuller with life time warranty he just gave me another one no questions ask now how is that for a great warranty

So Go Team Fuller ( i think my set might be the Pro Fuller

)

lol mine was $15 from bunnings, after some choping of rust on my mahindra the angle grinder went bang haha :lol:

been buying a fair bit of king tony recently seems similar priced to the powerbuilt stuff, when my powerbuilt rachet broke less than a week after buying it they told me that i had to use the power bar to crack every bolt, it was only on a wee 12mm bolt and i just didn't think it was good enough..

Beware of some of the "cheap" "homebrand" type power tools.
I brought a skill saw from bunnings...after about 12 months it died..turned out a segment of the armature failed & caused it too eat the brushes.
Unfortunately i had lost the receipt so had no prrof of purchase so wasnt able to get it replaced under warrentee even thought it had a 2 yr replacement warrentee...so i ask where i could buy a replacement armature & brushes....they then told me after some badgering that they didnt bring any spares at all...i then told them it was totally unacceptable to import gear & have NO suport at all...after much arguing on my part they gave me a dead saw that had been dropped in the shop....i took it home & swapped over the electrics.....so be careful.
Oh it was a GMC brand at Bunnings.
