Differences between Mitsibishi 4D56 and 4D56T?

Post by matts14 »

Hi all, I'm new here and I have a 89 pajero that I need a new engine for. It has a 4D56T (2.5l turbo diesel) and I have found a 4D56 for sale (non turbo) and Since I have all the turbo manifolds and ecu etc, I could potentially bolt them on. Does anyone know of any problems doing this, or differences in the two engines that would make the 4D56 not suited to doing this?

Cheers,
Matt

the man differance is the compression will be higher in the 4d56, also the bottom end bearings will have braces holding them inplace on the 4d56t to cope with the turbo.

i was looking at doing this too, but in the end i found a block.

Hi, A thicker head gasket will lower my compression, and solve that problem, but how essential are those bottom end bearing braces?
