Building of a dog (rokmutt)

Post by rokhound »

This is a quick run down of the Rokmutt's first body off build up 18 month's ago.

As she was with 36"tsl's, Hilux cart springs, 2.8ltr 5m, welded rear and lsd front, single transfer. Make no mistake, even like this the old bitch could hold her own.

Image

Off with it's head!

Image

Ready for the big strip down, The front coil set up had been done the year before and the back was tacked together while still under the body so I could locate axle in the right place.

Image

Minus the drive train

Image

Now we start hacking hehehe

Image

All hacking and welding done, and new paint on. Should be easy from here, only have to put it back together

Image

Next bit....

The newly built 3.0 ltr 6m. God it looked sexy

Image

Check this out. You can stack an entire truck in bugger all space, when there is no body to worry about

Image

Some of the new goodies, Lockers, 9012 rancho's, Coils, Dual trans adapter, 5.29 R&P, Gasket sets, All bearings, Clutch etc.

Image

And can,t forget these. Mmmm Chromoly longfield CV's and axles

Image

Rolling again

Image

See, I got it back together, was bloody easy, only took a couple of hours all up

Image

Arse end shot

Image

Very first twist up after the rebuild. This was taken at 8.30pm and at 8.30 pm the next day, we were deep in the southern alps, (see next shot)

Image

Less tha 24 hours after a 2.5 month rebuild

Image

And....

Image

And.....

Image

Of course now the a Mutt is running 39.5 swampers, ball warming exhaust out side panels and a few other bits and bobs.

Of course like all works in progress there is still a shit load more to be done to the old girl........So watch this space .........because coming next is ........ :?: :?: :?:

Yeah nibby well ...umm... maybe a spring reatainer and location plate wasn't quite welded in as good as it could have been  (read 2 small tacks only). Still no worries, we just welded it up on the river bed.Image

Now you know why we carry a welding glass when we go Nibbs. The 3 pairs of sunnies wasn't an easy thing to do.
