Terrano Alternater problems

As I have heard the hitachi alts in the nissans are crap...Is this right??? and what would you replace it with....Mine is completely buggered

The cost of new alternator is $550.00 yikes

sorry but thats the cost try trade me local wreckers the come up the splines that drive the vacum pump on the back do wear out some late mode terranos did have different set up your not charging ? or sparky said its stuffed I'm still looking for one 2 months but for a spare at a decent price
at least its not a toyota

yip..its a diesel...so it does retrict me on options

could get a 2nd hand one though am i buying more problems.....

when i had my old navara the alternator shit itself but the vaccum pump was still good. just got an alternator off a petrol model and rigged it up next to the original and the new one supplied the power and the old one ran the vaccuum.

it will keep you mobile untill you find a new one or get repaired.
