Dad's Still got one at home, stretched chassis for farm work & hungry's all round, duals on the back. It was the 1st vehicle I drove and just sits in the shed now as the motor was getting tired and so bought a hilux.
There are bits floating about from another 2 two that have been wrecked, and the one that got his started was a 74? which he bought new and in 1980 gave it a heart transpalnt with a Capri V6. Was a good vehicle then, broke the odd axle but basically a reliable vehicle.

hey got some nice 15x8 alloys ( the look similer to white spoke steel rims but are alloy ) here is a picture of them on the jeep
it has 215/80/R15 snow tyres on it, but am going to keep this set for the road and put some bigger tyres on it something like 275 or 285 and put a new set of SATs on the old rims for off road for now then look at getting some 33's

Empty Engine Bay
Out With The Old 3Y
The Supra Bellhousing Fits The Mahindra Gearbox, Luckly There was a mahindra to W56 gearbox adaptor plate made by the previous owner, was just a mater of taking it off the old 3y bellhousing and bolting it onto the 1G-GTE bellhousing
Random Shot

dont know how the mahindra 3speed gearbox will like the new engine
i might have to do something to make it go faster then 95km/h
anyone got any ideas ?
Does the rear driveshaft come out in the middle? If so just retrofit a W56 into the place of the existing box and shorten/lengthen your shafts to suit... if they are both drivers-side shafts then you could use a 70-series Prado box, which I think from memory is an R151 so an adaptor or different bell may be needed...
Steve
Pretty sure the driveshafts do come out the middle but unfortunately thats also where the handbrake is.
You will get more than 95 if your prep[ared to rev it everywhere, the old Jeep engines were doing max rpm at 95 (4000rpm) but then there is the issue of stopping if you go faster
Also I see you still have the front grill assembly on - the whole front panel unbolts from the guards and the lights unplug giving excellent access to the enigne bay

Your new 1G-GTTE should get around 8k easily before the rev limiter cuts in... so your new top speed should come up around or just under 200km/h

As mentioned tho - it may not stop that well... and handling could be a slight issue... Do get video of it tho

so i would get atleast to about 130/140 with the new engine ?
as for stoping i might be going to disc from a suzuki sj413 but before i'll check the drive shafts and stuff to see if it would be easer to plunk some hilux or some other diffs
i'll be on video

custom mounts, i wont be doing the work got import customs doing the conversion and paint , but will be learning alot from the company so next time i can do it my self

Well just wanted to see how it would fit and what would need modifying to fit the 1G-GTE engine into the mahindra
Here are some pics
The Engine Still Need to go back more as the flywheel has just reached the front of the bellhousing so hasn't gone in yet
Also Bloody Good Thing about working with a jeep is that the side front guards bolt off to revel the chassis frame no gay engine bay side chassis like cars do haha
A little bit of the firewall will need to be cut & the battery box either removed or cut to fit the engine
After I have Modified The Bits to fit the engine into the jeep, ( not including mounts ) next will be fit of new accelerator pedal box, new clutch pedal box, new brake pedal box along with new brake booster

Is that "Yamaha" written on the timing cover of your engine???
Some clever-dick toyota person will no doubt be able to explain that... (I can't be arsed googling it myself
)
Looking good in the hole - will the front suspension need a little beefing up for this engine - it will be considerably heavier than the old 3Y I would think...

Hi basicaly its a head made by Yamaha that flows better than "normal" definally the one to have as there is a very noticable difference. Yamaha made heads for other makes one being Ford Falcon 6 cylinder when Ford run into production problems on their XD XF models. My son is building a circuit car (SS200 class) Toyota celica and has fitted a Yamaha head as they have huge ports, almost to big!! Scott is selling one of these motors with the same head
no no not me just what have learnt with out google, pre computor life. Some clever-dick toyota person

great project keep it going as its insprining me to get my own cj jeep into action
shortened surf chassis, leafs front, coiled rear same motor, surf lsd diffs Roll cage

what are you going to do about the radiator? .. I'm mounting it behind the passagers seat but then its not going to be road legal

Will depend - are you going to disc brake it all round? Its not a good idea to use a master cylinder from a disc-disc setup in a disc-drum or worse a drum drum setup or vice versa... from memory the drum setup has a pressure hold valve thingy in it to keep the shoes close to the drum but I could be wrong... What I do know is when you use the standard Hilux m/cyl with a disc rear it goes soft all the time... but swap in a master cyl from an 80-series cruiser which is designed for discs both ends and it stays tight...
What size is the Civic setup too - It'll be no use if the civic has tiny little one-pot calipers and you try to run Hilux 4-pots... you'll never move enough fluid for them to bite...
You might be better off getting a Hilux setup so at least you know you'll be in the ballpark of right - especially if you throw Hilux axles under it...
