Beleive me i have explored every, and i mean EVERY option for a auto locker for the rear.

It looked hope full for a while that a we could get a Detroit full carrier locker from an early GU that may fit, but no such luck.

Its ARB or nothing for the rear.

So we now turn to the front.

Plenty of choice there as the front diff is the sane as the rear in a pathfinder/navara.

I have already blown a CV with the diff open

Admitidly, there was a whole lota rust where the greese should have been, but you get that when you haven't owned a vehicle since new

Your right there. The front CV's in the GQ are too light. Just like the cruiser ones. Always carry a few sopare is the ticket.

Go GU front end and then you can put a locker in the front and not worry about CV's. They big strong suckers.

Couple of mates in oz have tried and failed with the lsd front, they say they are an absolute prick with more hassle than benefit.
One runs ARB front, the other auto locker front with tweaked rear lsd.

The one with the arb finds that he wishes at times he had an auto locker, especially when he leaves it too long to activate it, meaning that it doesnt help him much by then, but the others find at times with the autos that cornering can be a big hassle, and have had a couple of scares sidling.
These are in lwb GQ's so getting them round tight corners is hard anyway, and they have all found the only broken cv's between them was due to poor driving technique (mainly showing off)

Dave (soon to have auto front locker :D )

For what its worth, my opinion. In Oz a few weeks ago I got to seriously play with front and rear airlockers(see home page photo, this truck is set up for comps). I climbed some seriously vertical faces as they were up old coal slag pits 20-30mtrs high. I don't personally own a vehicle with diff lock, but have been in and driven plenty that do. I had pretty much decided on auto lockers for my truck until playing with these airlockers. I would have to say, being taught how to use them correctly,( read engaging before getting into the shit, reading the terrain innfront of you, and having them correctly fitted), the airlockers are now my preferred choice. I think most peoples problems with lockers is they have never learnt how to drive properly before having them fitted. IE: they have them fitted because their driving style/skills let them down. Don't anyone get offened now  Difflock can get you in to more shit then you have balls sometimes.
DB it all depends on what you want to do. Personally I would never fit an LSD to the front end.
