Great work Jafa. You going to relocate the filler to allow more oil in the front axle? Or just winch the front of the truck up a tree before filling it? :)

Also, have you seen the gussetts the yanks are putting on the balls now?

Oh, and Eatenfuller... at the risk of biting at your childish comments for F**cks sake keep your comments either humerous or helpful. This is a support forum for 4WDing, not a forum for slagging off other peoples work. If you think somethings not safe then say so, and be helpful enough to say why, and how you would fix it.

I rely on this forum for ideas and support as much as anyone else, but I like to think I put a bit of work into helping others on here too in return. Thats what makes it work. Maybe you could learn something from that. Most of your posts seem to be poking holes in other peoples posts, or putting people down. Eventually that sort of thing has the potential to kill this site, and I'm not prepared to see that happen.

And you've obviously got a bigger welder than mine. Good for you, you win.

Steve.

Yer I'm really lucky we have a 300amp Tig at work, you can blow holes in 10mm plate with it if ya want to  I much prefer Tig to Mig probably coz I've been doing it for years. I use a Unimig 180(really wish it was a 250) but only for stuff that dosn't matter or is 3mm or less thick, otherwise its a nice hot weld with the Tig

Not sure if its the same thing DJ, but I've seen a gusset put above and below the axle from the back of the swivel ball to the axle tube. Stops the swivle balls bending up when landing hard i suppose.

Have a look here... As Jungle said, they stop the flex at the skinny-point on the axles - although that skinny point is pretty beefy.

http://www.frontrangeoffroadfab.com/knuckle_ball_gusset_kit.htm

Might make some for mine anyway - although I've never bent one, or seen one bent... I suppose anything that stops flex there is a good thing.

Oh, and re: my little outburst - I probably didn't need to go quite so overboard - but hey, I have PMS (Partially-finished MU Syndrome). :)

Its probably not so much having the prog as knowing how to use it... have you got a spare week to teach me to draw shit with it while you're here? :P

 Yer I know what you mean, I have been at Solidworks for about 8 years now, so I know it inside out. You tend to get frustrated with it when ya dont use it all day everyday but on the other hand SW is very intuitive and really easy to pick up the basics, specially if your mind hasn't been poisoned by Autocad
I was hopin to be down there for a couple of weeks so mebbe I'll run a nightclass! :study:

Nice work on the X member and the gearbox mount :thumleft:
I like the idea of welding it in...  never thought of that

I'm curious as to how much you planing on lifting the body, as your gearbox and engine mounts are higher than mine... I'm still uncertain about lifting mine... I want to keep the weight as low as posable

Thanks for the URL Steve that site had some interesting stuff :D sparked some more ideas

As for the welder  whats the big deal about size, its all about prep, hell I've welded inch thick plate with a 170mig and its takes daily abuse to the piont I've started to bend the plate!

Keep up the good work

Cheers Reece
