Izusu Mu Bangers
Hey guys,
In need of a nudge/full monty bar (Don't really care which one, As long as it can fit a decent amount of lighting on it) for my Mighty Mu.
I've got a lovely big tray underneath which looks to be able to hold just about anything i bolt to it so dont really care if the bars need a bit of modifying...
Thanks in advance

I drive a Mu... Thats who.
Trademe is no good, They are all in auckland and who knows if they are dodgey or not, cracks in welds and crap.
Failing everything else, Does anyone know where they get made?... Got a heap of steel lying around so i suppose its always possible to just make one. Would want it done right though.

Depends what kind of bar you want... have you got any ideas about a style? ali or steel?, winch fit? find a pic of something you like and post it.
I've built a couple, and I'm about to build another one for my current project. Could always build two since I have a couple of MUs here to model off...

Well first i dont need a winch, im not going to be going that hard-out.
Main reason i want one is to hold up some decent sized lights, and to add a little protection of course.
Im not to fussy on that material used, ali would be nice because of the weight but apparently it gets quite costly.
Thats the design i want to go off minus the ribs protecting the headlights. Nice and big for ya =)

If i was to go with the aluminum, what would be a rough cost?... Do you do aluminum welding?
Nope, I'm not set up for alloy. As for the fashion is everything quote - I might not be your man - lmao - I'm not that fashionable...
That bar should be pretty straight forward to build, the unknowns would be the plastic strip around the uprights and the cost of chroming (it may also need bead-blasting prior to the chrome process.
Costs - steel, bending of the tube (I'd have that done at Autobend to ensure they are 'pretty', as per your requirements), welding, tidying up, blasting, chroming, plastic trim and mounts - final price tag? Probably more than you would want to pay for it - you really might be better off buying a second hand one or even a new one from a bar manufacturer. My guess is that hand making a one-of like that would be around $800-900...

lol, The fashion thing was half sarcasim. Although i do want it looking half decent.
Yeah that price sounds around what i was expecting sadly. Not cheap are they.
Just to annoy ya further, how much do ya reakon a basic nudge bar would cost to build up? Suppose it would be better to buy one of those 2nd hand too. Only problem with that is, try and find one for a Mu... And... The arms that bolt onto the stone-guard underneath have to be so dam long to reach under there.
Been told its easier to make them instead of modifying others to reach.
