starter motor 5mge probs
well got the new motor put into the truck but when i turn it on the starter motor engages before i even get it to start, i can turn the key to acc then as soon as it clicks to on the starter kicks in to life instead of waiting till i get the last click to start it and stays turning over, so can anyone give me advice on what it could be, all wiring is right as i labled it before removing, but i did put a plug in where it was spliced for two main cables a red/black and just black mike(suprasurf) should know which ones they are, i my just solder those back together the way they were and get rid of that plug i put in.please please help me
For the starter to engage before you get to the start position then you must have the starter motor incorrectly wired to your IGN (ignition on) - rather that START, or the START and IGN positions on the key switch (or somewhere further out - check that plug you referred to) are being shorted.
I'd be checking that you've got the right wire on the starter, and that the trigger feed from the START position to the starter relay is right...
Hope that helps a little...

I had a very similar problem when I put an electronic ignition on the clevo... ended up being a fault in the wiring diagram supplied by the ignition supplier!! (thanks fast eddie!!
)
The diagram said to have 2 starter power supplies; 1 to the brain then to the factory starter relay, and one to the factory starter relay. Ends up that I only needed the one standard starter power supply, the diagram had the factory one drawn in as if it needed to be wired in..... bastards!! ( the way it was drawn made it look as though you wired the brain one in on top of the factory, it was a hand written drawing....) This somehow caused the power to the starter to be constantly on once initialised, until you turned the key fully off.
I'm thinking you could have a similar problem of having 2 power supplies to your starter.......
But seriously, try Steve's idea first!! There's a little difference in the wiring between a toyo and a dirty old clevo........
