You dirty turncoat
How could you even think of getting one of those horrible Nissans
If you want to upgrade look out for Cruisers as well at least you can compare prices and keep those nissans honest.
But I might be a bit biased too
As for upgrades i'd reccommend Rick at 4WD accessories. He works on Safaris all the time ( Especially Albundys one
) Cause they're always breaking bits
But he has lockers, snorkel etc that you need.

thanks guys for the feedback so far.
well all i want to know, is this thing im looking at a rip-off for the money as its very tidy and done low kms for her age. i dont want a lemon but i dont want to pay top dollar either. it mite sound ridiculus but at the end of the day i will have whatever i get for hilux to spend on safari mods.
as for parts thou when things break, who is good for second hand parts in ch ch? and are they more reliable than a surf with a 2.4td and ifs? i will be giving it shit to some degree and want to lift it as i want to put my 33's on it unless they will fit on there with standard sus.
cheers, steve.

How about this wee truck. These mod up real nice with beam axle and coil springs etc you get away with lots.
Your wheels should fit on it

Hey nice!! And good value to. I bet Steve is looking on with baited breath

If I was you Steve, I'd go for a project and don't rush into it.. Maybe buy a cheap straight FJ40 and repower it with a lexus V8 (cheap and good bang for your buck). You can pick up a good V8 Lexus for $1500 (my chevy was $6000). My FJ40 stock cost me $2900 with roll cage and new springs blah blah. But everyone knew I was going to suggest that.

Don't rush into buying one bro. You have all the best advice here on this site to help you. Use it.

GET IT NOW!
Pete
I can't talk really.
To save on my fuel bill, last week I did an impulse buy and brought one of these.
A scooter.
As I don't have a bike license I can use this. It's a Sachs Bike called a MadAss50. 4 speed. It's cool and CHEAP to run. It's a 2 seater to.

another thing you may have not noticed is that one is the 4 seater not the 5 & there essebnaly a 2 seater cos of the lack of leg room in the back compaired to the 5 seaters on the other hand you get alot more boot
Nitrous is like a hot chick with a STD..... you know you wanna hit it, but you are afraid of the consequences.....

Who cares about the passsengers in the back, they are usually the kids anyway
Go the safari, you won't look back. When I looked for one all I was concerned about was the engine compression and leakdown. I was lucky as the first one I looked at was within 2% of manufatures specs, not bad for an 89 safari. Look for one with a rear diff locker. As for snorkels etc, Rick at 4wd accessories is starting to specialise in safaris by default. He can make you up a steel snorkel(may even have some there on the shelf) do you some sexy barwork ( he's just finished mine) and put an auto lokka in the front. You won't look back mate. By the way, what part of Oz you from, I'm from nth Queensland.

cheers Al,
you always say the right things. as for factory locka i was going to aftermarket lockright lockers as its a ford maverick i think. as for compresion, all good. i will definitly see rick at 4wd acc. and yes its true, im an aussie. born in wellington, shipped to aussie as one of nz's best exports. but i was to good to lose and so im back in the home land.
. bit like borat. "i travel acrose the ocean to far away lands to learn about the different cultures and take back to home land, but it was all lies.
im grew up in sydney and was in queensland for a few years working on a farm behind the gold coast.
cheers al for the comments as i am blind to the new truck but its saying buy me and with the money from the surf, well mod time for sure. i will do the normals like service and belts, plus snorkal and 50mm lift springs to fit my 33's

You have to remember the Safari does not drive anything like the surf, in fact they are a bit of a pig of a thing to get around in, they are almost as agricultural as the FJ40.
I would keep the PTO winch, they are a lot stronger than the electric ones and can hold more cable.
I would look at driving one for a day and compare that to a newer landcruiser, whatever you get getting the factory locker if available is the best option as they usualy are slightly stronger internals, and parts/support for the locker are easier.
You could return your surf to std and sell the bits and the std surf if you still have the bits. Should I call around and see if it is parked in the driveway this weekend?

You could look at the toyota leaf spring crusers, some come with cable lockers F+R factory.
They dont have the style or class of the Safari though![]()
and don't weigh nearly as much either aye Shane

You taking your truck out to Sheffield PR?
We could set up an ORE Toyota vs Nissan competition (i could be the quickest person to put his truck on its side
