SR5 Double Cab Stereo Installtion

Does anyone have a diagram for the wiring loom in a Toyota Hilux SR5 1999. Im replaing the standard cassette player with a CD player and need to know which colored wires do what.

should be pretty universal but no experience with 99's etc

normally
black = earth red = continuos power(to batt 4 memory)
yellow= on/off power(from key ) blue = remote power (4 amps/stackers)
and so on

but as i said could be WAYYYYYY of track with new cars..

Just found out today that the Fujitsu stereo that it came with has a light dimmer built in(which is the Dark Green Wire). This was the colprit that was blowing my dash and rear lights. Just had to leave disconected to sort the problem out. Learning curb! Cheers Man...

I've seen that happen on stereo installs before when you connect the dimmer wire up wrong...

Just make sure the dimmer wire is connected to the correct point in the light circuit - something your Hilux probably won't have in the factory stereo circuit. Or, as you have done, just leave it unhooked.

Hmm, just to be smart, red=ACC switched power and Yellow = constant power supply for memory

That a tough one. I usually look for the heavier gauge wire out of the yellow and red wires and assume that is the 12volt hard wired that drives the unit. The little wire is usually the switch wire.


How many spare fuses have you got?

Wait till you start working out starting faults with 80 series cruiser. 24 volt starting and 12 volt running. Gotta be real careful which battery you use when being jump started.

Got it sorted. (Constant Power)= Blue/Yellow Stripe
(ACC)= Gray
(Ground)= Brown
(Antena)= Black/White Stripe
(Front Left Speaker)= Violet-/Pink+
(Front Right Speaker)= Light Blue-/Light Green+
(Rear Left Speaker)= Yellow-/Black+
(Rear Right Speaker)= White-/Red+
(Leave Dark Green Wire Diconected)
Wheeew! Three Fuses Later

Real simple way to make sure youre not going to fluff up stuff, go buy a cheap multimeter from dick smiths or Mitre 10 and take some readings then youl have all the power side sorted.

hey aa, best way to test the "dimmer wire" just use a test light, only 5 bucks from repco, earth the wire on the test light, then put the test light on the wire, then turn your lights on, if the test light lights up, waalaaa there's your light, but most of the cheaper cd players don't even have a dimmer on it.
