ashley river trip sunday 2nd.
Except for the zuki - who else didn't get a tow - especially of the 8 trucks that went from ranggoon up?
Might be proving something for zuki - except he almost got swept down stream at one point!
I was trying to figure why I was struggling on the slippery boulders in the water, but have realised since getting home that my tyre pressures are way too high. I was going to air down before I left home but forgot all about it.
Also looking at going to 33 MTs if any one has any good deals they know of. Was keen on the mudzillas on TM but they just sold for $1,268

He actually got very stuck more than once - first time he had to winch out. Infact every single Nissan on the trip today had to be towed

What tyre pressure were you running Hulux-Happy? You seemed to have the same struggle as me on the loose slippery boulders?
BTW I just shot down to look at that dumped trailer. Was thinking of checking for a numberplate and seeing about obtaining it - but all that's left there is a pile of potting mix.

i was running 50 psi all day. i seem to go ok like that. i wont say to much bad stuff about the toyotas they went well and there was a good variaty of toyotas aswell. me just happy with the day and last bit was real cool for checking snorkals for leaks. i checked my aif filter after trip and still dry

The first part of the trip I got stuck 3 times
2 in some really narly mud holes which I doubt any truck would have got through due to the big tree roots that I and anyone else would not get traction on
50psi shit
I was runing at 30psi and I thought that was too high I should have been running at 15psi
I will arrange an ORE day trip in October from oxford down

You're to excited about your nissan bro. Settle down now settle down.
Nissan putting the surf to shame? When you owned your surf you couldn't say enough good things about it!!

How's the toyota/nissan poll lookin?

Looks like everyone had a good time yesterday. GREAT! :thumright:

That makes sense because you seemed to be having the same trouble as me at times. I was running about 28-30ish (haven't checked for a while) and figure that with the type of tyre and the high pressure I was too firm to grip the rocks - after i bought the truck and was running at the pressure the last owner had I could get through those places much easier and was wondering what my trouble was yesterday.

I'll have to agree - the more set up the truck the more rough terrain you take on...
But I got stuck in a deep water hole with loose shingle that me and anyone else would not get traction on

Really enjoyed the day and the truck now has all the doors open and I'm waiting for the sun to come out...

And thanks PR for the one man power pull to get out of the pea gravel who need's a safari top pull you out when just the driver can do the job!
Also good to see RangiMotors (Dave) out for a bit of a play, and trademe.

I also would like to thank all who participated in the day, it was a good little trip, I am just sorting out some video I took to add to the album, most of it is of PR
he just seemed so photogenic on the day
I will post when it's up and running.
I think special mention should go to Bubbles
the first part of the trip for her consisted of, watch PR get stuck, pull PR out, watch him get stuck again in the track beside the first one.
Wait for the call from PR "HONEY"
Tell PR to get stuffed, get your self out.
Travel the trail a bit, recover Hulux-happy, then Steve_647, then me, then Aza.
At this point I thought she should have Bubbles Towing on her truck
I did get to repay my favour later, but Bubbles was a great help, keep up the good work

yeh im really excited about it. i could never say enough about the surf cause i didn't no anything about 4wding and it was my frist truck. then i got the nissan and well i have done everything in it that i did in the surf but where i got stuck in the surf , the nissan seems to go straight thru it all no problems. yes the hilux is a great truck and once i put the new turbo in i will take it for another run. its just the nissan has more grunt and strenth. plus it has a rear lsd so thats why im not getting stuck as much.
at the end of the day. they are both good trucks and i just keep on learning. thanks again to pr for the second part of the trip as that was a real learning trip for me.

The videos are in the album.
Can either click this link, or they are in a separate folder at the end of the album.
The PR video show
These are the only vids I took, so sorry I didn't get any of anyone else, not that easy to drive and be video operator as well.
Enjoy

Can someone please confirm the videos from the above link are working OK.
It's the first time I have used this camera, and had to download some different codec for it, just want to confirm other PC's are able to open it ok.
Cheers
