erg pipe

Post by bopsurfer »

Has anyone had there toyota 2LT blow an erg pipe. I had this happen and man what a noise, lost turbo (we also lost clutch but I cant see that being related) and plenty of smoke up hills..Can blocking the erg pipe at the exhaust end work or would this cause more problems.. It blew a hole in the side of the pipe on the exhaust to erg unit.

Appreciate any advice at all

you can block it off not sure how the erg works exactly but it is not required for the engine to run. Seems unusual to blow off tho I would look at the pressure in the intake (boost gauge) to make sure it was not overboosting.

Thanks, It acually burst the cast pipe on the erg housing. I'll check out the exhaust system for blokages and block off the erg at the exhaust manifold this weekend. The heat melted the snorkel air duct inside the engine bay and air filter is soaked in soot, not to mention melted wiring loom cover, wires are good. black soot everywhere. Everyone here's a hint for toyota 2lt's, dont buy one and if you do block the erg sytem off completly.
Cheers
