Buying Surf diff locker
Hi, im wondering if anyone can help, where is best place to buy a lock right or aussie locker for my 94 v6 surf? Aussie locker dosent do rear locker is that correct?

the trade me listings for the lock rights are from a very good guy who is one of us, the price is worth it as it saves you the hassle of ordering and tracking the items from U.S to here and then having the duty and gst to pay. for the little extra that you would pay its worth it in my opinion.

As Wopass said, the trademe guy is Suzolla who is an ORE member... you could probably convince him to make a direct deal a bit cheaper since it will save him success fees... I do the same thing with the stuff I sell on TM...
As for a deal, that price is pretty good... same price I would do the Lokka for but as mentioned the Lokka is currently unavailable in 4-pinion as they are redesigning it...

This thread is the answer to my trademe one in off-topic the other day... all we need to do is get everyone from there on here 
Then Mike can charge all the non-4WDers fees and we can all get kick-backs from sales and get rich and... umm... what were we talking about again?
Oh, and re: having trouble importing things - Diff locks are over $400 NZ to buy, which means you have to pay GST, which means customs will stop the pack... and that means you most-likely also need to pay a customs broker to do the paperwork...
I've found with importing stuff, the shit time comes from NZ customs... recently I had a shipment that I had air-freighted as one of my customers needed one of the items urgently... paid extra for it but it took less than 24 hours from order to NZ landfall... then customs dicked me around for 3 days... and the last call to them they finally released them but said it would go on a two-day courier to get to me - thats when I got a bit pissy and told them I needed them urgently and to put them on overnight - which they refused even after I said I'd pay extra to have it done... I got right up the guy on the phone cos I was so bloody pissed at them... (this is after about 6 phone calls and days of the run-around) the call eventually got to calling him something along the lines of little nazi empire-building power-tripping c*&t... at which point my goods mysteriously disappeared" for three weeks...
Long story short - everything I've imported since seems to take longer than everyone else... I bet my photo is pinned to their smoko room dartboard too
Moral: Take advantage of the guys who import parts for you, they go through hoops to get it here and they are a local point of warranty if needed too...

have you got feeler gauges and a socket / spanner set? Thats about it - its time consuming and it has to be done right, but its not a hard job.
Allow around $100 for fitting if you are taking the diff to get it done, and around $150 if you just drive the truck in - this will vary from shop to shop I'm sure - get a quote first.
Doing it yourself for the first time: allow yourself an afternoon and a few cold ones.

thats awesome, is there anything wrong with just doing the rear, then doing the front at a later date?
i think il get the pro's to fit them, i dont mind tinkering, but a shagged diff in the middle of nowhere would totally ruin a day...

Don't hesitate to order ex US - a number of us have made a frequent habit of doing so over the years and can direct towards the reputable companies. Even allowing for freight + GST it typically works out cheaper than purchasing within NZ.
And a wee hint ... Customs get somewhat overwhelmed with the volume of freight entering our borders from around the second week in December to Xmas; small volume items arriving in the country during this period are less likely to attract the GST surcharge than at other times of year. Never a certainty, but from personal experience I can tell you that this is more often than not the case.
