I got someone from the Hawkes Bay club keen to go as well..which would be good as they would be keen to host a trip for us over there, if we accept more then perhaps split into 2 groups for the driving????

visitors will be extra on top of the 15 and the sole responsibility of the invitor. if you invite someone they are your problem.

42 days to go 8)

I've been keepin watch on the Aucks club web site as they had a trip penciled in for Pureora as well. Looks like they are gonna be there as well now, so if you want a cabin, get in and book one, otherwise its just tent sites with toilets and water.

Was doin some thinkin, and i remembered last time a couple of us had to do a stealth mission into somewhere we probably shouldn't have with out askin first to clean radiators, so i might take a hose and fittings this time

Reckon about 60l of AV plus a full tank might just cover the weekend fuel wise.

Come up with a couple of lists of stuff i'm going to have to take:

Stuff to throw in to leave at the camp site for repairs at the end of the day so far is two spare sets of points, three sets of plugs, four litres of 2stroke oil, compressed air bottle, grease, 80w90, carb cleaner, axle stands, timing light, blow torch and solder, drill, spare carb, spare alternator, water pump, gaskets, gasket sealant, spare rear axle, spare front axle and CV, spare drive shafts, club hammer and just incase all else fails, the 35's for the safari

Then the usual recovery gear that lives in the LJ but needs checking, 2x 20m and 1x 5m snatch strap, 2 x rope joiners, pully block, winch extention cable, tree protector, cable damper, spade, high lift, shackle, snig chain.

And then check the usual spares etc that live in the LJ, belts n hoses n wire n connectors n fuses n nuts n bolts, crc, silicone spray, brake fluid, rape tape, zip ties, hose clamps, tarp, rad blind, squirty bottle and window scaper, two sets of plugs, set of points, mechanical fan, rain ex and will probably throw in a front and rear axle.

Man you need a lot of crap to keep a dodgy old truck your still getting to know running in the mud for the best part of three days

Ive committed now to heading to Whangarei. It's a Jeep thing. Will be camping at Poutu and playing at the lighthouse and in the sand.
And besides, with the Rodney and Taranaki clubs also camping at the Doc grounds, its probably gunna be a bit too busy for my liking. Too many people gets me a bit tetchy....

How much are you going to pay us NOT to tell her what nasty stuff you have been saying about her on here

Seriously...if you are there then you should be able to maybe join us for a drive or beer or 10 (provided she's in a good mood  ) ...perhaps???

at this stage mate im gonna have to say im not sure  if every one turns up then the group will be pretty full. i did say at the start that 15 was my top number and if everyone shows up we will have more than that. would prefer to have a smallish group to lessen organising dramas etc. if we get closer to the day and the maybe's havent confirmed then yes 2 more will be ok.... but wait and see.

i will be setting a cut off date for the maybe's and if they havent confirmed by then it will open up a few spots

Crap, who else is gonna be there?? Manukau Club, Taranaki Club, Auckland Club, anyone else??

That place is dead all year, then everyone wants to go there on the same weekend lol

I can see why we are going to have to keep our numbers low, especially with two of the bigger clubs coming to the same area.

Hi Ben.

me n Siwsie confirmed.
We will be tenting.

Attention Jerry Towhooks.........

Are you still going to meet me here in Wangavegas and we all travel up together, ot are you going to go straight up SH1? What time? fri night or Sat morn?

If you wanta go up fri PM thats ok by me, I can find that place with eyes wide shut. problem is you MAY need fuel and the only places are taumaranui, (SH4) Taupo or on to Tokoroa and back to Whakamaru.
