Watching Sadam last weekend, he nearly used a well placed (i.e stuck )Surf to halt our lack of brakes while on the hill!!
First time in many years I have bailed from a vehicle. I was surprised by the lack of holding ability. Can you upgrade to GQ brakes?? Or maybe throw some disk's on the rear?
After looking at Sadam's brakes while he was pulling the half shaft on sunday I was suprised by the small size of the disk. There looked like plenty of room to fit a larger one. I know that they fit hilux brakes to the fj40's but the 70's have them anyway.
Would a bigger booster help?? Or are the stantrd booster's ok??
My 2c worth :) ( so far :D )

yeah, i was watching, good show. then it was my turn and almost rolled back in to mark with the breaks on full, lucky i had it in gear so i jumped on the gas, other wise my back door may have looked like the front end of a nissan, that would have sucked!

I am looking at an offroad vehicle at the moment and would like to know the answer to this question as well.

sadam u would get first option if i dont use them BUT there is a 99.9% chance i,m gunna build up a new front diff using a 60 housing ,80 front cvs and brakes and locker out of 80 rear .but good things take time. I still haven,t finished it enough to give it a good thrashing yet .took it out to whitemans valley the other weekend (for about 2 hours ) and a bloody tree got in my way and wouldn,t move ,so i tried again and it still wouldn't move but it f@cked my new bumper that i hadn't even finished making yet . i was well pissed

not exactly a easy job to swap 80 cvs and brakes onto a 70 series housing. 80 series steering is different to 70 so arms need to be cut and messed around with to make them work. swivel housing stubs are different size as well. would need turning down to fit 70 housing
