Possible Trips

What I am look at are any infomation on the the following and if anyone has done them :wink:

Rakaia River (from state highway 1 to state highway 72 mount hutt)

Rakaia River (state highway 72 to the mountains?)

Ashburton River (state highway 1 North branch to state highway 72 Alford Forest)

Ashburton River (state highway 1 south branch to state highway 72 Mt Sommers)

Hurunui River (state highway 1 to state highway 7)

Hurunui River (state highway 7 to the mountains)

Waiau River (state highway 1 to Waiau)

Any info would be good and I would be going downstream not the way I typed it in :wink:

Forget the Hurunui / Rakaia as there are shit loads of deep fast water xings. as for the ashburton, there are several clubs that have done it, I will try to get some GPS maps of it for you.

Did the Pahau river a couple of wkknds ago, this led us onto the Hurunui and had a 45-50 meter xing to do with 5 trucks. Had to tie them all together and convoy across as it was rather swift.
Not something I would choose to do again, esp with a light truck in the middle that was almost floating.

What about in late summer when the rivers are lower :?:

But if you get a good norwester come through you will get the river rising.....

Me and petemcc went up the rakaia then up the havlock (i think) stayed at mistakes flat hut then came back out, was a very good trip something different. lots of big rocks river crossings were pretty good (did the trip in april)
