banging out of 4wd back to 2wd

:cry: when i put it in 4wd 30 seconds latter you here a bang from the back and it jumps back into 2wd, so it will not stay in 4wd i have a vitara 1990 . can anyone help to what it may be , thank you mike

possiably a worn transfer case. but im not an expert on vitaras.

My Bighorn did this, but mine was due to the rubber dust boot putting too much pressure on the lever, pulling it out of 4wd.

this is common on early 413 suz's especially if being used on farms
Shit builds up under the dust boot( the gear shift cover) and pushes the gearshift back under load. Easily fixed if this is the problem, just use the hose and water blast it out dont use a hi pressure water blaster as it may get water into gearbox. dont know if yours is the same but "worth a crack Nigel"
