4wd bangs back in 4wd by itself

hi i have a vitara when i put it in 4wd it makes a bang then slips back into
2wd so it will not stay in 4wd any body know what it my be :cry:

Sounds like a worn transfer case. Is the lever fully engaging? Make sure theres nothing like crapet or the rubber boot stopping the lever fully going to where it should be, or something pressing on it popping it back out.

Also do this simple check that Suzukis are bad at doing! :roll:

Check the transfer case mounts, the ones that are on the arms that attach the transfer case to the chassis, these often perish/break and can cause these symptoms!! :evil:

The way to check them is to get a large pry bar or screwdriver ( but watch your eyes) and lever on the arms, if one is broken it will soon show!
