PR at the Ashley

Just trying something different with my video posting, trying to make it easier for everyone to view them.

Can I get some feedback on if everyone is able to view this, without having to download any additional codec's

Sweet Az!, though I'm a 'geek' and have all the appropriate codecs...

Nice to see some active 'geek' development in displaying videos :wink: (damn, I wish i'd thought of that :lol: )

With all the 'geek' resources available on ORE, perhaps mike should be creating a wishlist of 'the ideal site' so we have something constructive to concentrate our efforts on, as they say.... 'Many geeks make site work!' :wink:

(hmmm, there seems to be too many references to 'geeks' in this post :wink: :lol: :shock: )

Good to hear it's working for everyone, I will check with Mike on what the new format will be for vids in the ORE album, but this should work better for me in the meantime.

Here's another couple of PR from the recent Ashley trip.

um well im actually in the process of creating a video site and just working on the current members logging in and posting to it. it uses the same technology as what alex has posted. infact you can go and watch them at http://training.offroadexpress.co.nz/tracker . There is over 300 videos in there already.

Would be good to have a bit to cut and paste into the forums like alex has done that links straight to it and with a preview like that. will look into it.

good video btw, first time something has been posted and be able to view that easy.

Yeah im going to discourage vids in the new album even though it can handle them as people should upload them to the video site so they are all in one place instead of in peoples albums, on photobucket, on you tube etc. that way all the nz 4wd vids are stored in one place and you can just look through them willy nilly :D

I like your thinking on this, I was just looking for hosting that didn't require odd codec to view, the camera I am using has some wicked compression, and is a Hong Kong direct import, so I was stuffed for a while, Just happy to have found a way to make it easier for everyone to see, I also like the preview in the post, I will look forward to progress on this IT front.

In the meantime I will post another couple of vids soon.

It's looking really good so far :lol: . are you thinking of something like this (easy) direct link;
http://training.offroadexpress.co.nz/sites/default/files/videos/zuk_vs_nissan.flv

To include a preview, might be a bit more difficult as it requires an embedded 'shockwave object' to be 'included' into the message body.. :shock: phpBB is kinda limited with html support in posts, as you'd know :cry:
have a look at http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=546007&start=30&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&view=print it might shed some light on how to mod phpBB to allow video within posts, ie setting up and adding the BB tag; [video=url] though this could add a bit of overhead when it come to upgrading to the latest phpBB version.

but i guess you could do it this way (kinda budget version and requires user to download and play, bugger if you don't have proper codecs, oh and requires 'geek' skills to post proper url :cry: )

click the image below to download and play video in your default media player;

Look forward to seeing what you come up with to solve the problem :lol:
