Want to soften the suspension on my 4x4 Navara

I want to soften the rear suspension on my 1989 2.3 Navara. The standard leaf spring has 4 leaves which by my calculations rates at about 480 lbs per inch. Any suggestions on spring or shock modifications would be welcome.
