Engine Mounts ? Help

Post by MAHINDRACJ4A »

Hey guys just wanting to know how to do my engine mounts for my 1g-gte engine into my jeep, as you all know the jeep had a 3y hilux engine, but my dad gave all the engine mounts for the 3y engine to the person who brought the 3y engine (including the jeep/hilux chassis mounts or what ever you call them), anyone got any ideas on how to go about mounting my 1g-gte engine into my jeep ?

any ideas at all will be very good, like anything as im a bit confussed

here are the mounts that came with my 1g-gte engine

On the 2JZ conversion we did on Riks truck we just modified his diesel engine mounts to fit the engine extensions, then made mounts on the chassis with some folded 4mm plate and gussets. I'd guess the 1G engine extensions would be similar so you might be able to do this... Those mounts look bizzare.

take what ever you have that will bolt on the motor and make a support for it :D as simple as that... good trick to do before you start making them mark the center of your chassi and line up your crank bolt with it  this way your motor is centered not your mounts

Heres a couple of pics of a set of mounts to take standard cresedda engine mounts and are a classic case of offcenter mounts

yea that would be the way I'd go... they bolt on are easy to sorce and cheap theres lots of em out there in junk yards

Then its just a case of making something like me or steve have done off the chassi to support em.... and don't forget to add a plate onto the chassi like I've done or lap the top like steves done this will stop the mount fatiging round the weld and ripping out a section of chassi   and looks good
