1HDT Oil pressure

Post by stompin »

Hey guys

I just had my the engine in my cruiser rebuilt (1hdt), just wondering what sort of oil pressure i should expect?

I dunno if the gauge if fuckd, or if somethings up because the gauge seems to change depending on idling/accelerating/etc. So i am going to mates tomorrow to put an after market gauge on to test it. Just wondering what i should expect.

it will read lower at idle than at 3k rpm, about 1/4 at idle is normal for a well used 1hdt, or a bit more for a fresh one. at 3k rpm it should read about halfísh..... from memory.

so the more revs you pull the higher the pressure should be
If you already know everything, DON'T ask bloody questions!!

The factory gauge i had repaird the other week but i still think its mis reading the oil pressure, I was going to use an after market gauge to check i, went to my mates work to do it today but due a rather bad haing over nothing was achieved.. So ill drop it in there this week for a 1000km oil change and they can check the oil pressure, just paranoid after droping a few grand on engine rebuild.

Does the motor still have running in oil in it? That may give you a lower oil pressure as it tends to be thinner.
I don't know if many people still use running in oil these days or not though???
