Tow ropes
Tow ropes
Just a warning here to others that you may wish to think about locking your tow ropes and other items to your trucks.
I had two ropes rmoved from mine on Wed night when at a meeting at the Papanui Club. These sods also tried in vain to remove the bungee strap as well as my spare fuel container.
In future these items, when replaced, will be locked!
If you see someone getting around with 2 new ropes, both 9M..............
One is one of the ones sold by Hosehustler here on ORE and was only used once in anger! the other is a Cookes black rop around 40mm in dia, well used.

Yup it was at a 4x4 club meeting, dont yet know if others were interfered with or not. Will put a chain and padlock through them in future as its a hassle to remove them all the time, one never knows when they will be needed.
Have PM,d hosehustler to see if he is making any more ropes. Need some in a hurry soon.

Sorry to learn of your loss.
I suggest that you get into the habit of removing your ropes in future.
Leaving your snatch ropes on the back of the vehicle only serves to shorten their limited life as they are affected and degraded by ultraviolet (UV) sunlight. I know it might be a hassle but caring for your vehicle and equipment does take time, especially if you want them to last.

Hindsight is a bitch, something im not good at.
Neither is remembering to put the ropes back on the truck everytime i go out somewhere, as the day I do go out without the ropes is the day i will need them.
Id rather take the risks involved with them on the back thanks all the same.

Leaving the ropes where arseholes can steal them can be entertaining, if you make sure there's a dirty big rottie at the other end. One arsehole years ago, when he stuck his hand through an open window of my uncle's car, found that the window was open so that the f**kin' big doby inside could breathe.
Blood, meat and hair left on the seat was a bit of a bugger but at least none of the runny brown stuff landed on the car

Bugga about ya gear being flogged but unfortunatley you have to either leave valuable things at home or at least not in view & your ropes were sure in view.
Another good thing is to not put stickers advertising you have valuable & therefore desirable gear in the vehicle to a thief.ARB stickers etc just tell a thief which vehicle is more worthy of breaking into or stealing.

As I have said before, i am going to padlock them in place when replaced.
Im buggerd if I am going to hide/remove items just because some lazy thieving low life cannot afford 60 odd bucks for a pair of ropes!
The truck is well secured internally from breakins too. Nothing is fitted in a standard way, so removal will be a slow and painful process!
