have a warn winch, was going fine this last trip up the Ashley.
now it makes a clicking sound, and is relaying power to motor
but nobody at home, does anyone have any advise on a repairer in
ChCh, and also how to stop it happening when repaired.
on zuk so in water a lot
To see if it is the motor or the solinoids check to see if the motor goes or not. The earth's on the motors do tend to be pretty weak. My motor has been modified to fix the earth issue & I'd guess it's an earth issue (unless its burnt out - overloaded it?)
Check that full power is getting to the motor when flicking switch.
As for keeping water out - good luck. Motor's are meant to breathe... With only2 bolts holiding the motor on it is not hard to take it off and dry it overnight if it is accessible & it'll last alot longer.
normally the bushes in the motor get full of shit. Real easy to take apart, clean out and reassemble (long as you have some clues ) otherwise Rick at 4wd Accessories.
Mine is mounted behind a great 7mm plate that covers it real well, top, bottom and front. All you can see is the wire on the drum from the top and the clutch lever. I find this keeps it all clean. I echo h2o, go see Rick at 4wd accessories he has fixed a few winches and I have learnt a few pointers about them from him.
