Ramp travel

Post by matwelli »

Had a chance yesterday to do a "ramp travel" on the pajero while out on the brother-in-laws farm.

The front wheel traveled up the ramp to a verticle distance of between 325 and 350 mm (13 to 14 inches) before the other wheel just started to lift off.

the pajero suspension is standard in the rear, the front has the sway bar removed and lower bumpstops trimmed.

With the front stops trimed it should have about 6 inches of travel, so I guess the back end was flexing enough to deliver the other 7 inches.

How do these numbers compare, they seem to be relatively pathetic :(

Would be interested to find out what other standard and modified suspension guys get .

Thanks for the link, it confirms how pathetic the close to stock pajero is in articulation -still, beats a standard jeep, trooper and Freelander :D

did a bit of reseach online, seems I can trim my upper bump stops quite a bit without damaging the driveline, so that should get a bit more (30 - 50 mm) and a bit of work on the rear end should get me in the 450- 500mm range.

When you look at the photo on that page (I assume its a cruiser) even the soild front axels are getting most of the artic from the rear end.

Hey Mattwelli, Yeah the mu is ifs, so i'm quite happy, it raises a few eye brows everynow and then, people really underestamate these little things. Am gonna get new springs for the back and change around the shock set-up so hopefully i'll get a bit more, if i can get over 900 on the ramp i'll be very happy!!

Nice tom, very nice!! :D
