Help lads , a mates terrano has droped a gearbox berring in his 89 2.7 diesel terrano it a manual..
my question is this ..
A ; do we get a full set of gearbox berrings and whatever cogs are damaged

OR

B ; do we get a second hand gearbox and slap that in ...

some ball park figures on cost and practicality would be great cheers lads...

I can speak from experience. Ive done mine twice.

First time it was done by a shop in Auckland (cant remeber who my mechanic mate organised it) $1100? It was never right, and spat the dummy again about 18mths later. :cry:

Had it doen by a semi retired gearbox guru. He asked me why there were factory bearings in it if it had been done. :roll: :evil:

He rebuilt it with roller needle bearings rather than standard ball bearings. Has been a better box then it ever was. $650

The factory manuels are weak so rebuild it with quality parts and never look back.

They are the same box in the Terrano/navara 2.7s including the turbo models.
