Just received my email from RUNVA, they want a reply from everyone by today(WED 10 OCT), stating what winch you require, voltage, wire rope etc. They also have a few accessories on offer.

Are we going to try move the winches south ourselves or do we need to organise freight from Auckland?

I'm from Picton so I can do the relay from Picton to say Kaikakora

If they can get from Auckland to Wellington then I should be able to get them across the Cook Strait.

Who placed an order for a winch?
I ordered the EWX12000 with cable and a winch mounting plate.
For the other accessoires I'll be supporting one of the advertisers on here, 4wdbits.co.nz
Their prices on items like snatchblocks and tree trunk protectors are better than the guy doing the Runva winches could offer.
Did a bit of investigating and this guy Michael Mabille is the same guy who also operates http://www.winch.co.nz so with the 12 month warranty parts etc if required should not be a problem.
Also appears to be the same guy selling these on TM as Jetboy007
Reasonably good feedback re the winches on TM

I've ordered a GEW10000.
I can do the the Kaikoura- Chch run. And may be able to get my brother to take some AKL - WGN, as he drives this about monthly for work, though in a Falcon sedan. Perhaps a trailer...

Big thanks once again to Graham & Mark for your efforts in this whole thing. Bloody good buggers I reckon.

Even if we all had to chip in to hire a trailer and pay for some fuel, as long as someone is making the trip then that's the first step.

Although, does anyone actually know what it would cost to freight them individually to each person? Say it's 50kg with the wire rope on... what would it cost to send one from Auckland to Wellington? Anyone use freight services regularly that can give us an idea?

On his winches that he sells on Trademe (pretty sure it is the same guy) this guy Michael who is selling us these winches has $55.00 maximum anywhere in the North Island and $75.00 maximum anywhere in the South Island.
That is not bad for what is a door to door service.
Getting them shipped in bulk, depot to depot would be a lot cheaper. We pay less then $45.00 per cubic metre at work to ship Wellington to Auckland
If someone had to drive from Wellington to Auckland to collect these winches they would need to collect at least 6 winches to make it worthwhile because it would cost at least $300 to drive up and down (there is lot more cost than just the fuel)

They should have contacted you. I will email him and get him to send the email out to you as you must have been missed. If you don't hear from him by tonight let me know and I'll give him a call.

I'd say at a guess it should be around $35 each depot to depot Though they would need to be packaged resonably well.if you wish for me to get a firm price give me a holla.Richard.
