An enjoyable day out
Great organising and leadership skills from mroffroader.... I'd be more than happy to attend any of your trips in the future 8)

Got to put a few faces to names, all a great bunch of guys

Was also pleased with the responsible approach everyone took to safety, other users of the area and the sensitive enviroment

Thanks for a great day

James Effort...trying to copy Jamie
Image
[NB we had permission from the landowner to use this area and had a Shepherd with us on the trip, We were also very careful with this particular area]

James Zuk in action
Image

oops
Image

James showing off his BBQ skills....I noticed the lack of well cooked ie burnt sausages
Image

Family outing as well.....hoped the Whale (Safari) liked all the gorse....
Image

Whereas Marty took advantage of the Gorse to try and clean Truckie....with partial success
Image

I'm guessing Turoa would pay money for a photo like this!!!
Image

Really impressed how well James ran the trip....hard to believe he is "just a schoolboy without a licence", you ran the trip better and witg more professionalism than other trip leaders of other clubs. Something I am drafting up is an ORE trip leader training document....., also great to see is all the other experienced guys working with him and guiding him on how to run the trip.

Dodzy.....Rules and safety should apply whether it is a club trip or a private trip, I read your comment as "its not a club trip ....we don't need to bother...."

Carl....Jdeburgh's comment is well written, this is the point I was getting across to you....it contains the same info but the way you wrote it can easily be taken as threatening.....I have no issue with you raising stuff that wasn't the point I was making...the point was the way it was written.....

This all relates to how we behave in public and how the general public percieve us, all clubs need to work together, we need to look at safety, where we drive, ditch all the politics....this applies to club trips as well as private trips, remember if there is an incident on a private trip this reflects badly on the 4wd community as well as which clubs those members belong to....basically we need to be more professional with our trips, dealing with public etc, if we act professionally then DOC etc will not see us as a bunch of cowboys....and be more likely to work with us

I have some idea's on this .....more to follow on this....

Anyway
The next ORE trip is http://www.offroadexpress.co.nz/modules ... 6609#36609, all local clubs will get an invite to this trip.

Well that was a fun day out. The Whale didn't really like the 1 metre wide gorse enclosed track, but once it got a few scratches on it it felt much more usable! I might remove the flares and mud flaps for the next trip.

If you have Google Earth installed you can view the GPS track that we took. I have also added a couple of points of interest. You should be able to just click the following link to the KML file which will open in Google Earth. Otherwise, right click and choose "Save As..." and then open it from in GE.
