Like I said, it was a temporary thing - they were going to be coming off and replaced with traditional 'hoops' but since they never once looked like breaking, despite the "rust", it got put on the to-do list
well as long as its on ya to do list its ok, may take a few years but thats all ok. lol
What type of radiator is that? (it is 4 core isn't it?)
I'm looking for a decent sized radiator for project LION HEART.
its kinda based on the 3y radiator with the tank inlets and outlets changed and made 4 core, looking at it last night thinking im gunna have to make it 50mm shorter to make it fit or put it on the deck

Looks like its the plan to move the shock mounts foward, allready got bigger/taller shock mounts so that should be nice and easy.. oh and jafas hi steer kit turned up yesturday

bit of an update, got the frnt springs sitting in, frnt drive shaft is way to short now, wide rear axle in, half of crossover steering in, radiator mounted on the deck with catcher tank, got a 16inch fan with lotsa huff and puff
still shitloads to do, got the plates for the ifs steering box now so can put that in too

wahooo, first part of the build is done, and its drivable. Cross over steering DONE, rears up front, new shock mounts and bump stops, sweet new rancho shocks, made that radiator fit up front, wide axle in the rear, got sum new tyres but still waiting for the rims, and a drive shaft with 12" of spline
to turn up
so, all i got to do before new years is tow hooks, and a box section front drive shaft and a wheel alignment
pics to follow tomorrow (hopefully
)

Re: My new toy/project :)
Well, electrics huh, it decided to stop going when i was wheeling away dwn in naseby, ended up making an a frame and towing it back to chch, Finally decided to do some about it last weekend, turned out a cable has fully melted together that is running off the efi relay. Thats way the truck didnt go
and aslo found out why it was missing, looking at the spark plugs it had a bit of water sitting on the top of it some stage. The mission ova the nxt couple of days is tidy up the electrics (fawkin messy) fix my leaky trans sump, put a tow hook back on, and maybe remove the front bullbar and hopefully go wheeling on saturday
Sitting part way up mt buster ready for ropes to be attached to turn around (took about 3hrs to get bk dwn)

And the one flex shot of the front,

From memory there was still a lil bit more in the front, but the rear was starting to leave the ground, but that prob is going to sorted soon. Time for rear suspension work

Have just started on round two (not to sure how many rounds of mods there will be
) Sick of the electrics screwing me about so gonna tidy them up a lot. The new motor is going to be run by a link computer with a MANUAL gearbox and original transfer case so then i can go duals one day, then get it certified (mainly for the motor) before the 1st december so i dont have to worry about the new emissions laws etc. Last night mission was to get the old motor, auto and transfer case out, thats all now sitting on the back of the ute, just waiting for adaptors and some parts to turn up and getting back into it, in the mean time I've got a lot of little coloured wires that need a lot of attention

Re: My new toy/project :)
The link is a good easy computer most of the trouble is in the tuning, you may need some balast resistors for the toyota injectors on a link but the wireing is far simpler to make it go, MAP sensor, Injectors, Water temp, egt, fuel pump and o2, then get some of the outputs to control the fans etc.
When I did a link into a evo2 I found it was easier to get a few A3 pieces of paper and put everything the computer needed on one and everything the engine needed on another then combine those two into one page with the computer inputs and outputs. I was using the same sensors twice initialy in 2 different inputs until I started the drawing (because I was running out of everything) I was a bit silly and had it run the aircon and a lot of other stuff (inter cooler water sprayer, launch control, antilag, shift light) I would not be able to afford to run that car now I thought it was expencive back then
.
The link can auto tune but you need a good base for it to start from and the car needs to be hot before it can autotune. Cold start is the PITA and I never got mine quite right nothing a couple of pumps on the loud pedal wouldn't fix or when that flooded it cranking it for 30 -40 sec.

Re: My new toy/project :)
The early first gen links are hard to get cold start working correctly but the new G3 are much better.
My 1uz Hilux runs rough for the first 30 seconds until the cold start enrichment is off. I have played with it a bit to try and sort it out but it's hard as you can only do limited tuning when it's cold before it's not cold and yu have to wait again.

Re: My new toy/project :)
Righto, with the electrics completly fawked and the auto crapping itself, it has got another wiring loom in, its out of another double cab, gone back to being a w56 manual. Manged to lower my ride
took the body lift out, re did the engine mounts to lower the motor down, seems to be a lot better now, thanks to chopper, h20lover, and oldyella for there help. Should be a bit more reliable now with all new electrics
the motor all out
the wiring for the computer

soo out came all the wires

now left to do is everything
all by new years again
now it looks like this, after the weekend

Re: My new toy/project :)
is it me or do those tyres look bald
good sh#t phil , so when is the start up vid

Re: My new toy/project :)
Wahooo it goes, was on the dyno today getting tuned, got a whooping 102kw at the wheels
got the duals and 4.7 gears in, and got myself a poked w56,
so after one of them would be handy, hopefully go for a wof in a couple of weeks. got the extractors in and exhaust done, the computer pretty much all wired up and the rest of the loom back together, and a few oil leaks to attend then just everything left now
