Would love to do the cape york trip. Have a family in Aust who always talks about heading up their with us some time. They have been before. Am keen to make it happen.

I've done 4x4ing in the Waddigans but nothing else in Aust yet.
Sold my 1985, BJ74 MWB Landcruiser, rear locker, 33" MTs, snorkel, PTO winch, solid bars all round, spotties, AM CB etc.
Now just a 1994, 1kz Surf, pretty standard.

Do it! My then Gilfriend and i did it in 2004. make sure you detour out to chilli beach aswell. Actually you really need to do it twice, once as soon as it opens after the wet, and then about halfway through the season. That way you get to see such a difference and also the telegraph track changes quite a bit in a month or two. We did in in a 2.4 turbo (which partially blew the day before we started the telegraph track) diesel surf with 29inch AT's and open diffs. But we were not alone. The start of that vid is canabil creek coming up the north bank (if i remember rightly). It was the hardest crossing for us. Looks like that vid is only a week or a few days after we went through. We did about an hours digging there. a few months later when we drove back down it was basically a straight line with no bumps, someone made it boring.

Done it three times now. It ios alot easier then it was back in the 80's. One year we got flooded in so caught barges from weipa back to cairns with our trucks on. Cost us an arm and a leg.
Al
rain, hail, sleet or snow, we go!
