Hi all,
does anybody out there know of a way to convert a 12v difflock actuator motor so it can run in a 24v truck?
There's got to be a way of doing this without spending a load of money...

Get your self a 24V to 12V converter to supply power for diff lock motor.
Would also give you a power supply for other 12V items. There may be a 12v circuit in your vehicle that you can tap into, as your stereo will most likely be 12V.

Thanks for the idea but I can't think how to make it work. The truck still has the 24v front locker in place and its run off the same diff ECU which stops me converting the power supply to the whole unit. The motor polarity is switched down the 2 wires depending on what direction it needs to run, to lock or unlock, which stops me running a dc 24v to 12v converter in line to just the motor itself (i think).
I'm going to buy a converter to run the other accessories though, as you suggest.

There is no mechanical problem so difficult that it cannot be solved by brute strength and ignorance.

another idea is to use the ecu to operate a pair of 24 volt relays and then run 12 volts to the other side of the relays and to the diff actuator if that makes sense
