RUNVA brand of winches

Hi Guys, has anybody had any experience with these, they seem robust (check out the weight) and of course they are cheap compared to others.
I am looking at adding a winch and or course hydraulic is expensive so electric seems the be the way.

what sort of truck is it going onto...would pto work? there is a few people on here using them use the search function and have a browse.

Yeah. What sort of truck, and do you thrash your gear -- properly?
I went for a PTO winch for my cruiser, but, aside from the fact that not all trucks have PTOs, the weight of the setup would chernobyl a little Suzuki, which are really just overweight ATVs (written purely out of envy...) and are easier to winch. And then, having fitted the PTO, it would have been easier to whack an electric on. Would probably have had to be an 8274 Warn though. At least I don't have to worry about buying humongous bloody $batteries$, $alternators$ etc.

Whilst 8274 might be one of the best winch designs, there are plenty of other electric winches that are comparable in performance and battery friendliness. Try having a look at the specs of Warn 9.5XP or Superwinch EPI 9.0 (I am particularly talking about under load performance).

As to the original poster, it depends on what you want to do. If occassional use, a cheap and nasty winch would do. If you are setting up a competition truck, well how big is your cheque book. As a general rule of thumb, you get what you pay for. Chinese manufacturing standards have improved dramatically, its often the quality control and consistency that gives them a bad name.

hey man check out http://www.winch.co.nz he's a good chap and will answer any q's you have. i had 1 on my last truck and will be slappen one on my new truck once i remove the warn and its very own amazing maze of wires :evil:

hi guys my use is self recovery on an isuzu bighorn so no pto potential that I can see, and a bit on the heavier side in touring form at over 2 tonne so the winch I am considering is this one http://www.winch.co.nz/Specials.html and I have had a look at the Warn and superwinch equivelants and of course the price point is huge, just wondered if others had tried these.
the search topics revealed some really great things on these so at the $'s has to be worth a look?

The guys have just done a bulk deal with runva Stu. Some of the guys that have brought them will be able to give you some feedback about them

thanks for the reference, it certainly appears that the number indicated makes these worth a go with the performance as well
