Been a while since I was in there Dennis, but from the looks of the pics of Labour Weekend, the tracks look like that have got hard enough for most. They looked challenging enough for most people.
As I say though, I haven't been there for about 2 years.

Hi well yes the comment about xmas trees has been brought up might be a good fund for this xmas. There isn't a map as the tracks are pretty easy to follow but if there is enoungh interest could probaly do one.Howzit Shell was think of making some harder tracks like crossings of gullys hill climbs to play on & stuff.I'll post a date when we will be taking the buldozer in so if anyone is interested in coming down to help put new tracks in would be good still woundn't mine some more input on here about the lay out of the tracks as they are now, anyother comments welcome its for all of us to use so dont stand back have your say now thanks Dennis

Get peoples to talk to Lions clubs in their local areas and get orders for a bulk lot for different clubs. We can use the 4bees to pull them out load them onto trailers and drop them off. Then we haven't got the hassle of the home delivery. We just set a day closer to christmas, tell the clubs we'll deliver them on a particular day. They'll probably presell them through their networks with a margin for their own fundraising. That way our involvement is all done and dusted in one or two days To top it off the DOC guys would love us.

It would be good, then you can stick up signs and things start getting named. I can think of a few already: "Cruz's Cut", "Woopass Swamp", "Tonka Trap". Everybodies greatest embarassment should live for eternity on maps... there's a rule somewhere, I'm sure.

The only thing that I can think of is that it would probably be cool to have "Graded" Routes from "Shiney" to "Hardcore" or however the grading system works, having said all that even now, it rox.Howzit Shell was think of making some harder tracks like crossings of gullys hill climbs to play on & stuff.I'll post a date when we will be taking the buldozer in so if anyone is interested in coming down to help put new tracks in would be good still woundn't mine some more input on here about the lay out of the tracks as they are now, anyother comments welcome its for all of us to use so dont stand back have your say now thanks Dennis
yea i like the grading idea, my whale would do ok if i was driving behind wopass with a pushing rope attached lol maybe keep some tracks for long wheel base club trucks and some for all out shiny's but then digging the hell out of some for the trails trucks and hard yakka boys and girls, yea hill climbs sounds good just optional xtra's maybe putting up posts with colours ie red = hard yakka green= mamby pansy 4x4

I'm probably showing my ignorance here but is there a grading system? In River Kayaking we have a numbered grading system from 1 to 6
1 = Flat water
6 = Suicide until people start surviving on a regular basis. (Huka Falls used top be a 6 and is now a 5)
Red Amber Green sounds like a pretty good starting point though, the advantage with that is you could mark the roads on the map in the appropriate colour for peeps that aren't familiar with the place.

Good trip Cruz and Wopass. Took a few photos still uploading them..........
as regards tracks, Wish i coulda stayed, but my tyres are far too worn for that area now, I spose I will have to start some real saving. Not my Siwsies best way of enjoyment, she likes the shinier trips, so next time I will have room for a co-driver......
having said that, I don't REALLY want to make the Korando a cut-down truck JUST yet, tho if I live long enuff, it will resemble a certain FJ40 I know of. One day, Eh, Ben?
Went in to the "Gums". got home yesterday. Mohaka full of trout......... BEN!!! Deer prints opposite the hot pool track. LOTS of them. BEN!!!!! I need help there.....

maps
King Country club are in the process of making maps so we can put them in the Doc headquaters to show how & where to go.Also making signs to show how to get to the block thanks for the comments keep them coming as we need imput to make sure we are heading in the right direction with the block thanks Dennis
grading
The grading idea could be tricky as what I call shiney track might be to hard. What we were thinking was on any hard bits was to but a alternative track around this to join back onto the track further on so that there is always an easy route around the harder bits, does that sound like a good plan?

sounds like more progress than us.
we went into our side of pureora yesterday and did what the other club members called the rotorua highway. can't remember the last time I saw 12 shovels get a major workout on a highway. it was supposedly a 10 minute loop track, after 1 hour we turned the others back, I had already gone in the other way after lots of digging myself to help pull them thru, and they had only moved about 100m. theres a lot of tracks that aren't highways anymore.
if you go and grade tracks this year, then next year they will have increased in grading etc etc.
I bet once upon a time you could drive a morris minor to the top of thompsons or up the widowmaker or thru the 24 hour track and round the tracks in minginui, pureora and plenty of other places.
no need for grading. the trip organisor/leader should be aware of the track conditions and accordingly judge wether its suitable for the vehicles in his group.
case in point------ doddzee is running a trip thru the 10 hour track and has basically said 'no winch,no drive' which is great, coz he knows the track and what type of vehicle is needed. no grading just a common sense approach by the trip leader.
