or the PCV is blocked and preventing the recirc of gasses from the crank case which when pressurised can do all sorts of wierd things.....
get someone who knows what they are doing to look at it, it may not be as serious as you might think.

what is the PCV? oh yeah i took it for a run down the street and it had no power?

Sounds terminal
The one in mine did that when i bought it. It would blow smoke out the rocker cover breather to above my head before becoming a mushroom cloud.
Pulled head off and the pistons all had major slop. Bought another one for $300. Now changing for bigger motor. Sold suk one though.
Toss it and put somethng bigger in. You know you want to
But bugger really

its just a 1 way valve should come off the tappet cover and just be a hose with a plactic thing that looks like a joiner in it, it'll prob go to the intake manifold, you should be able to pull it off and blow through it. its job is to realise that crank case pressure but not allow it to suck any in.
Thats how i undersand them any way, don't no zuk's

crank case ventilation valve. there is a pipe/tube comming out of the side of the block or rocker cover somewhere and it has a little one way Valve in it then goes to the intake manifold or carb base somewhere. sucks all the gasses out of the crank case and prevents pressure inside there which pops seals and causes major oil leaks.

pcv valve goes into inlet manifold between rocker cover and carb. pull the tube that comes out of rocker cover top middle. You dont really need the PCV its part of the emmisions reduction but you do need to ensure crap cant get down hole. Needs a little filter.
No power sounds bad but
Could also try a compreesion check. Book says compression should be standard 199psi and min 170psi with a max variation of 14.2psi

saying all that i would still do the easy things/checks first but if its smoke rather than fumes/pressure and its doing things like blowing the dipstick out the its probably your rings, turbo cars have the issure that if the valve fails (not blocked in or out) or someone takes the valve out you get all your boost pressure in your sump and it'll blow th dip stick out and probably most of the oil.

rangimotors wrote:it would be interesting if you put it under water without the valve in and it just venting, i think you would find an engine full of water with the temp change im pretty sure it would suck like a school boy
If you ave water all the way up on top of the rocker cover you have prob got bigger issues but i had mine plumbed into the air filter box which was ttached to he snorkel just in case.

If you want PCV valve diagrams PM me your email and i'll scan the Haynes manual and email it to you.
yeah pcv working well
i am looking at different engine options at the moment trying to find a 94 barina or swift with the injected g13b for an easy swap.....I might take it to rallywoods on the 10th and cane the arse off it??

ok update....... compression test done, the haynes manual says standard compression is 199psi and minimum is 170psi with max variation between cylinders is 14.2psi,............ mine numbers are as follows:
number 1: 190psi
number 2: 140psi
number 3: 120psi
number 4: 180psi
so im thinking it may be a head/head gasket problem between 2 and 3?? but i cant find any traces of water in the oil or vise versa?? and the smoke from the oil filler is getting worse......
any other ideas??

the compression tests dont lie so theres something going on with No 2+3? You dont necessarily find water in the oil or visa versa with a blowen head gasket but you would expect it to be using water. Could be a valve problem, did it get ant water in the intake when you were out at Aotea last month?

We'll see ya there
Why not have a look at Submercers green zook and the transplant he did ...this is being certed at the moment and he told me that it will be ready to tow nissans again soon

you might have bent a couple of valves is if it took a wee gulp of water, your engine seemed to be running well when we were last up there so something must have happened to lose compression like that

Compression that low on 2 + 3 sounds bad. If its injested water there is a good chance that its bent a valve or damaged the rings.
Did you try taking the roker cover off and turning it over and seeing what the tappet spacing is. I can dig the specs out of the Hayes manual if you need them. If it was running good before this would be a good way to see if its bent a valve that is now not seating properly.
It sounds very similar to mine when i bought it. I never bothered finding the fault just bought a new motor. Pulled it down a bit and the more i looked the more it looked like it had swallowed water.
Viatra 1600 would be nice but they must be made of gold for the amount they want second hand for them.
Good luck sorting it. A head job might fix it but it might not to.
