landcruiser factory winch
G'day RD,, I have hard wired my factory winch in my 80,,put in 2 rocker switches in the lower part of the dash, there are holes already there. one switch is on/off ( to send power to the winch ) the other is a momentary switch ( dosnt lock ) for in and out..you need the on off switch so you dont accidently drive the winch ..

I guess coz your talking about switches your factory winch is electric jono.
I've got mine hard wired into the cab of my truck. I mounted my switches as close to the drivers door as I could so its easy to operate while driving and I can also easily access the switches from outside the vehicle without having to climb in to operate the winch. I got a couple of press switches with rubber boots on them to keep the mud and crap out of them and the boots also mean the buttons have to be pressed quite firmly to activate the winch so its a lot harder to accidentaly knock the switches and activate the winch.
I ran the feed for the switches through a emergency cuttoff switch (I think thats what they are called
) so I can turn the power off the switches when I'm not using it, the cuttoff also shuts off the feed to the remote pins on the relay box so nobody can play around with the winch when the vehicles unattended.

Its all wired off the remote socket on the relay box, I take it your winch has a plug in remote?
The live feed to the remote I looped back through the cuttoff switch then back to the remote and the two push buttons on the dash are fed by the cuttoff switch then paralelled onto the respective in/out pins on the remote socket.
Theres only 3 wires on my remote and its easy to work out which is which with a mulit meter
I brought all the switches from jaycar electronics if theres a branch where you are?
