1jz-gte , 2jz-ge & 2jz-gte engines ?

Wondering if many people have these in their 4x4's , what generation is yours ? Auto or manual ? what bellhousing or adapter plates your using ? etc , etc ............ ( thinking about a conversion into a 89' LJ71 & seek info )

got an adaptor plate made to fit my jeep gearbox, but will fit w55 - w58 gearboxs, you wont find a lot of info on 1jz or 2jz into a suzuki lol, most likely never done before, they are more a performance engine, would be better off to do a 4agze into it, but if you dead keen have fun and keep us updated

I'm also considering a JZ.... into a solid front surf though

I haven't been able to find out whats involved with running one with a manual.

wjw (member) runs the standard kz auto with a jz and to all accounts it wasn't hard to mate up nor has he had any problems.

Supras run 2jz's with W series boxes and hiluxi run W series boxes, so I wonder if its possible to use the engine bell-housing, flywheel, clutch pressure plate and 4wd box.

It would make for a happy me if i could go from 90hp to 225.

Length seemed an issue, saFAGari and I measured one from firewall to pulleys 780mm, my surf has 820mm odd to play with.
You could have it tougher..

thinking about a conversion into a LJ71

conversion into surf is fairly easy, but not into a suzuki lj71

Yes you can bolt it all up to a surf box. All the 2jz bellhousing clutch and flywheel that is. Wiring probably wouldnt be an issue as there are manual 2jz around (I think).

Mahindracj4a, an lj71 is a solid axle prado, not suzuki

Got a 1JZ-GTE in my LJ71 Bundy, Alot of work but worth it in the end, Got motor and box (R154) out of a supra and put the cruiser tranz case on the end, Half way though a single turbo swap so hope for more power LOL  .

The manual R154 box is from the same family as the R151 box that was in the cruiser ,so box stays in the same place with same mounts,Just have to swap the output shaft from the cruiser box into the supra one so the tranz case will bolt up.

Best thing is everything aside from the engine mounts is stock off the shelf parts so no one off bellhousings, clutchs ect ect.

Dude - With all due respect.

Read ALL your old posts asking the same questions! Search posts by adventures_more and you'll be surprised what you'll find....

Not surprising I guess considering we were led to believe it was dropped for a unimog!! Then selling everything about 10 times and going back to oz!

NJV6 >>> #### off , show some friggn manner's when posting , must a got out on the wrong side of the bed or something ?

Well lets see, i bought this LJ71 10 months ago , since then i bought a 13BT , a 14B engines , then stripped the 14B for the crank & flywheel & was going to stroke the 13BT but realised it was money down the drain , as the 14B was better design anyway , then was going 15B - but more $$$ down the drain & would make LJ71 into a tank wieght wise , I bought a series 60 gearbox & t/case for this build & a transfer rebuild kit , so sold all those parts . few weeks ago bought 2 LSD carrier's , put one in on monday , plus bought another t/case to replace my noisey one in there now & bought a disk brake rear end of a KZj78 ( when i do a engine coversion ). rebuilding this t/case soon, snorkel ( bought top bit already ), etc.

Unimog is my 12+ month goal, have heaps of info already & still searchn for stuff , plus have original mercedes workshop & service manuals for all Unimogs from late 70's till now on several DVD's & have started learning German language especially .

Plus i am heading back Aussie with my MOG to sell it there , but coming back here as i really it here .

Hate wasting $$$ on things that don't work out or seriously losing money in the long run " Done it a few times already !

"You don't ask , you"ll never know "- reason why i ask heaps of shit !

Did i answer your questions "NJV6" ?

In a Bundy why wouldn't you go with a V6 or V8? Easy to keep the engine driven fan assembly and no problems fitting everything up.

Heaps of kits for 1UZ's and Holden V6's which are cheap and reasonably powerful.

You should have the same size engine bay as my truck and have a ton of room in there to stick whatever you want into it with room to spare

my brother put a 2jz in to a 2dr ln130 made a plate and bolted to std 5spd was a v6 surf so tank and pump all worked and wired into surf loom with 2jz computer so all std gauges work, good motor but not much low down torque but will pull 8000rpm and sounds sweet .

AM, Something about you really seems to rub people up the wrong way... you've managed to piss a few people off since you got here, so don't get all "#### off" at people when they question you cos you're just rubbing more...

As for the the 2JZ conversion - there are a couple detailed on here... Hiriklux and I put one in his Hilux using a bellhousing and flywheel from tardme which turned out to be shite, so we had a new flywheel machined up locally. Costs you would need about $200 for an adaptor plate, $400 for a clutch kit and around $450-500 for the flywheel. There are a lot of other associated bits and pieces you need.

Computer-wise the motor I got him was a manual one originally so it had the simpler computer - you would be unlikely to find one of those, so get an auto and just ignore the auto stuff. There is some question as to the engine tuning being tied up in the input speed vs output speed of the auto, so if it looks like it has a set of inputs on the computer for gear position from the auto then hardwire it to 2nd otherwise apparently it thinks its in idle and runs lean, cooking the motor - I can't confirm that, but its handy to know in case.

The manual Supras had R-series boxes, not W as someone mentioned earlier - the M-series motor Supras had W-series boxes. This however will not help, as they have different input shaft lengths and I believe different bolt patterns.

Oh, and 1UZ vs 2JZ? a few horsepower, and a shitload more weight and complexity in the V8... go the JZ.

Heres Riks conv...

If you put a too big V8 in a LJ71 then you will be snapping the 8" diffs too easily, ARB ones help but then the weak point then goes to the CV's then you need to upgrade these to longfields (or thats my understanding anyway). you have to bear in mind that these are basically hilux diffs

There are off the shelf adaptor kits for a Crummiedore V6 and the Lexus V8, reading this conversion with interest as I will need to look at this when I kill my LJ71 head, A 3L diesel would be good but a Lexus V8 would be nicer....I hear the 3L's don't spin the tyres as well as the 2.4's...

Anyone know the Internal ( Engine ) difference's between a 2JZ-GE & 2JZ-GTE ??? is the crank the same material & forging & what about the rods , etc ?? Obviously the pistons will be different & possible the camshaft profiles ,etc ??

Pistons, rods, crank and cam is different in the forced motor.

The NA motor has less overlap in the cam timing (fresh air pushes out the exhaust gass at high rpm in the turbo making it free revving but less torque the turbo negates the losses)

Turboing the NA motor is possible but low pressure there are issues high boost (above 8) on this motor needing a lot of aftermarket bits including a programmable computer
