siping tyres????

Post by Conan »

hey all,

whilst hunting the web for some new lux tyres came across "siping" a few times......

cutting small slits into the tread blocks so it spreads etc etc

seems like a logical idea that would work in its theorys and ppl claim it does!! - but ive never meet anyone thats done it or seen it in kiwiland yet ,wondering if anyones tried this out or knows some1 who has????

:D Just looking at the pamphlet for Maxxis Buckshot Mudder tyres.
It states "siped centre blocks for ultimate control on wet roads - quiet , safe and assured highway manners , wet or dry".
The centre treadblocks Have a slit in them either side of each individual block to supposedly allow the blocks to flex and spread out easier.
