"T-Belt" dash indicator on 92 Toyota Surf

Post by JSW »

I'm wanting to know how this indicator can be reset.

I presume it refers to the cam belt, which in my instance
was replaced approx 8000Km (Odometer 92,000Km) ago.

The dash indicator has just turned over 100,000Km.

Is it possible to realign the indicator so it come's up
again at 192,000Km ?

Thanks
Simon

in the perspecs covering the spedo/tacho there is a little rubber bung covering a hole which you can poke a bit of wire thru to push a little button on the inside..... that resets the T belt light for another 100,000... did that make sence ?

Thanks for the info. I'll give it try.

Just got to remember not to rely on the "T-Belt"
for the next cam belt change.

from memory they work on a 100,000kn rotationfrom when they are set or re-set so if you do it now it will be sweet. 100,000kms is a factory safe margin so 8000kms wont matter much. the bung in the dash may not be there and is just a little hole, middleísh bottom area of the dash, behind it you will see the little button about 1mm rond with a dimple in it,poke it with a bit of wire or similar and your done

If you really wanted to go throu the exersize of correcting your T-Belt light, get hold of a genuine Landcruiser workshop manual ,mine is for a PJ70 , it tells you how to set your tumblers ,working backward from a foward given next cam belt change. It takes a bit of nutting out.

Shows your odometer has been tampered with in Japan.
Mine came on at 180,000 in my old surf!!!

Your speedo has 3 seperate tumblers , the one that affects your t-belt you cannot see, its in behind your dash panel. this is the one that counts backward from 100,000km. Your red light will stay on untill you deactiveate it by pressing the little pin.
